What is a piece of land's Best Value to an organisation like an NHS Trust? At the moment Trusts are obligated to sell land for their highest RICS Red Book "market value". But what if that land could provide housing for NHS key workers, improving retention rates and recruitment. For a large Trust, staff costs can total c.£800m per year. In that context, a small improvement in staff retention could translate to millions saved. Selling to the "highest bidder" on land value alone seems shortsighted. Updating the NHS Estate Code to determine Best Value on HM Treasury's Value for Money framework is one of the recommendations in the #NHSHomesAlliance white paper. Discover how Grupo SURA went about applying the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD)’s LEAP approach to identify and assess the nature-related issues of its investees’ clients in Global Canopy’s latest #TNFD case study. The Colombia-based investment management firm joined Global Canopy’s TNFD pilot programme, supported by Frontierra. The pilot focused on applying the LEAP approach to assess Grupo SURA’s potential exposure to key nature-related issues, such as deforestation, indirectly through its investees’ clients. 🔎 During the pilot, Grupo SURA used ENCORE (ENCOREnature.org), which enabled it to identify key environmental assets and ecosystem services in priority locations impacted by the companies connected to the agricultural and pulp and paper sectors in its investees’ portfolios.
