May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we in the Gore Giovale Center for Innovative Leadership want to acknowledge that mental health matters. You are not alone. Here are a few things we can do to work on ending mental health stigma in our world (from the Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services): 1. Talk openly about mental health 2. Educate yourself and others 3. Be conscious of the language that you use 4. Encourage equality between mental & physical health 5. Be honest about treatment & prompt others to seek help 6. Show compassion to anyone struggling with mental health issues 7. Choose empowerment over shame 8. Get mental health information from credible sources And remember, Westminster University has free mental health resources for students. Check out the link in our bio for more information. #westminsterslc

Let's talk about mental health shall we? Today marks the 21st year of World Mental Health Dare which was started in 1992 as an initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries. It's a day for global mental health education, awareness and advoacy against social stigma. And believe me there still is. Whether someone takes meds to help (such as myself), talks to a professional and/or a community for support, and does self care it's all important to be able to maintain balance. Hoping there are more days than bad and regardless "It's okay to not be okay". #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #stopthestigma #itsokaytonotbeokay #nami #mentalhealthadvocate

May is Mental Health Awareness Month This national observance was started in 1949 by Mental Health America to bring attention to the importance of mental well-being. This is a time to promote awareness, offer education and resources, and advocate for change. While society is getting more comfortable discussing mental health, stigma still exists. 💡Many Americans do not have access to high-quality, evidence-based treatment and care when they need it. 💡 Less than ½ of adults in the United States with mental illness received treatment in 2021. 💡1 in 5 adults experience mental illness each year. 💡1 in 6 youth in the United Stated have a mental health condition but only half receive treatment. Please take the time to talk about mental health and to create communities that value and support mental well-being. #MHAM2024 #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #mindset #wellness #mentalwellbeing #stopthestigma
