Great day at the Legal Ed Con today. It’s always nice to bump into so many familiar faces (the legal sector is really quite a small world). It’s been really useful to hear how law firms are navigating apprenticeships, the SQE, AI, and the skills gap. A big thank you to BARBRI SQE Prep for the invitation to attend, and great to see the The Corporate Law Academy (TCLA) team in person too. #legaledcon24

Hey 🌐 I had the pleasure of attending Legal Cheek's 'Solicitor apprenticeship application masterclass' yesterday. The webinar began with a panel discussion containing various law firms, such as, A&O Shearman, Bates Wells, Burges Salmon, Freshfields, Hogan Lovells, Pinsent Masons, Taylor Wessing and Watson Farley & Williams. I enjoyed how they broke down the application process and gave tips on being succesful. Afterwards, we were able to network with the various firms. I particularly enjoyed listening to both Esha Sandhu and Josh Wilkins (A&O Shearmann) and Aaryan P and Tommy H. (Linklaters) 🌟Key Takeaways: 💫Communication is a great skill to have, both written and verbal 💫In interviews, showcase how you're a team player by giving examples 💫In interviews try not to over prepare or make your responses sound scripted. It's ok to pause before answering questions 💫Show initiative by actively being interested in the legal space e.g. through virtual WEX Thank you to everyone on the webinar!

Harvey CEO Winston Weinberg on the future of the legal profession: “We’re going to have to rethink the apprenticeship model, and go more into the apprenticeship model…We’re going to have to put stystems in place across the entire legal system for training people.” Says that firms will need to put more effort into professional development, and young attorneys will have to be taught to do higher level work earlier. #aedi #legaltech #ediscovery

National Career Development Month is the perfect opportunity to reflect on how we can support the next generation of talent - and for local authorities, investing in career development is more critical than ever. At Sellick Partnership, we’ve seen the increasing need for future-proofing legal teams within local authorities, and legal apprenticeships are one key solution. As discussed in Natalie Ferguson's latest blog, growing talent from within offers local authorities a sustainable way to nurture skilled professionals who are perfectly suited to the sector's unique demands. Read the full blog here, where we spoke to a public sector legal client about the benefits of having apprentices on your team, and growing talent from within: https://lnkd.in/e8KwivJN

What’s it really like to complete the SQE? In our recent report, produced in collaboration with BARBRI SQE Prep, Flex Legal, and Damar Limited, we delved into the fundamentals of the SQE and explored how apprenticeships can be utilised by in-house legal teams. We had the opportunity to speak with Emily Coyne, Legal Associate at SeedLegals, about her firsthand experience with training in-house. Although the SQE may seem daunting and require strict workload management, Emily firmly believes that with the right support and help, it’s entirely achievable. Here’s her advice for those currently navigating the SQE process: ✅ Plan ahead and minimise distractions during exam preparation ✅ Lean on fellow team members who are also undergoing the SQE ✅ Create a revision calendar in advance to minimise stress Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eZ5j5BZd

Young Professionals x TLT LLP 💼🌟 I recently had the chance to attend an insight event at TLT LLP designed for aspiring degree apprentices to learn more about the legal profession. It was a great experience and gave me a better understanding of what it’s like to work in law. What impressed me the most was TLT LLP ‘s focus on their values like ⭐️Sustainability ⭐️Collaboration ⭐️Inclusion These values are a big part of how they work, and it was inspiring to see how they use these to create an environment where everyone can succeed. The event helped me learn about the skills needed to succeed in law and how the industry is always changing. Hearing from lawyers and apprentices who are already working in the field gave me lots of motivation and advice for my own journey. At the end of the evening, 3 Apprentices shared their experiences and answered our many questions! Thankyou again to: ⭐️Maisey Pope ⭐️ Gracie-Mae Brown ⭐️ James Webb A big thank you to TLT LLP , Kerry Gilbert and Rebecca Glynn for hosting this event and supporting future legal professionals. If you are also thinking about a career in law, I’d definitely recommend getting involved in events like this. It is a great way to learn and connect with people in the industry! #Law #DegreeApprenticeships #TLT #YoungProfessionals

On the 7th of February Young Professionals held a Get Into Law Virtual Event, this was very engaging and interesting as I got to hear from a wide range of law firms and the experiences of employees within the firm, I also got to hear how many people got to be where they are today. Apprenticeships were also discussed which was very useful as they discussed the key skills that employers look for and what we as aspiring Lawyers should do in the mean time to make the most of the time we have before we look for employment or to apply for University. Gaining this knowledge I started looking at how I have already shown the skills but also things that I could do to show some skills in a more advanced way.

Hello network👨🎓, On Wednesday, 27th November (Right after NZNEE), I had the privilege to be part of Young Professionals and Farrer & Co 's webinar from 5-6:30. The webinar was an incredible insight to what it is like and what it takes to be part of a leading law firm. For the first half of the webinar, the speakers, one of which Rebecca Reese, gave us key information on the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship, a 6 year Apprenticeship which takes you straight out of college and takes you to the NQ Status as a Lawyer. Farrer Co gave us insight on what you will be expected to do, the responsibilities you will be assigned and also the salary that you will receive. This being £25,000 for the first 4 years, then £40,000-£50,000 for the 5th and 6th year. We also received some incredible tips, with some of them being: •Research and familiarise yourself with the firm, •Tailor your application to the firm's values, •BE YOURSELF!, •Make sure your application is not lacking grammar, •Prove the experience you have gathered, (give examples), •Make sure you don't forget your unique features, as basic as you may think they are. •Do not forget to showcase transferable skills. Overall, this webinar was a must-attend as it showcased so much information of the new upcoming Apprenticeships route as well as the traditional route. A massive thank you to Young Professionals and Farrer & Co. #Law #SolicitorApprenticeship #FareerCo #Insight
