"Exclusion" (Someone you loved) by Matt-Q https://lnkd.in/gkyQydh9 Our mindset and mentality is always about ADDING MORE programmes, committees, campaigns, Master Plans and thinking that running around looking busy with overwhelming quantity is the key to success. But we have lost the plot because we do not stop to really reflect on the rationale, process and spirit behind the implementation of new taglines and concepts. We just DO it, honestly because of our insecurity and wanting to please others; but are blind to the effects on true effectiveness on the ground and impact on people's lives daily. Is inundating everyone to the point that collective mental health is bursting at the seams the wisest, most strategically sound long term solution for our people and the next generation? We must avoid change simply because we have to or we must show that we are changing. Otherwise, we will have a national communal malady where FORM takes precedence over SUBSTANCE, and that approach will taint every aspect of our individual, collective and systemic endeavours and it would be too late to turn back time to correct our error. The same predicament applies to our embracing the politically correct and nice sounding 'ra-ra' taglines and catch phrases of being "inclusive"; especially towards those with Disabilities. But are we honest in objectively evaluating whether we are more taken up with the APPEARANCE of inclusivity or the REALITY, SUBSTANCE AND SPIRIT BEHIND IT? Is genuine inclusivity TRULY being practiced in the workplaces here, especially in the public domains and in institutions that supposedly serve those who are disadvantaged, disabled and left behind? If we are truly serious about the reality of implementation, do we try to close ranks and cover up embarrassing aspects of lack, to the detriment of those who really need help in integrating into our community? Go for quality and meaning first.
