Repealing NEW ORDINANCE TO CODE BOOKS ORDINANCE NO. 230401 Amending Chapter 3, Code of Ordinances, by repealing Section 3-431, “Setting Goals for Individual Contracts” and enacting in lieu thereof a new section of like number and subject matter regulating the application of numeric MBE/WBE goals on certain projects leased for development or receiving economic development incentives or tax abatement. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY: 2. Ignoring the letter from The Kcmo Fairness Board Chairman & Fairness Committee regarding Civil Rights violations ? Harrasment of minority contractors ? inadequate reporting from Kcmo CREO department ? No Disparity report for 9 years and more ? 2016 Disparity Report below: Department of I think 1.2 minority [participation] and 2.5 WBE [participation], when there was adequate availability of minority and women contractors to meet the City’s standard kind of goal of 15 [percent] and 7 [percent]. They’re diluting the opportunity for minority and women contractors when it comes through the statutory business development organizations, all of whom have different sets of rules..… There ought to be a uniform code that is incorporated in all the development agreements which people in our community never see.… There’s a disconnect. And I realize they’re trying to change some of that now but the insulting part of it was there was more money spent through statutory agencies last year for contracting activities than there were through City departments.… It’s obviously developer driven. By the time we see it the development agreement has already been executed. Caused lack of capital for Jackson County schools and libraries. Mayor Lucas and Insult to African Americans everywhere?

What is stopping the City of Warner Robins from paying HOTEL rooms TO SHELTER the HOMELESS? What is stopping the Mayor from opening up a school gym, to get homeless men, women, and children out from the cold? Warner Robins has the money to do so, but it will not spend it on the poor; it will not spend it to revitalize poverty-stricken areas: like Green Street. Communities that show up at the polls -to VOTE- gets the most dollars. But let's not forget: The poor in Warner Robins has NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. Poor non-drivers would have to get Lyft or Uber, to get to the polls. Enough with the excuses! Sister Dina 404-407-0213

Day 4 of a #sharednarrative for #Plymouth: A city at the edge. We believe that viewing Plymouth as a city on the edge allows us to embrace our past, bringing it forward in a positive manner and tapping into the potential found in the transitional #liminal spaces - amidst our dialogue, between people, and between organisations. Exciting! At the edge geographically, at the edge of the ocean, the edge of the county, in the far south west of the country. Practically, at the edge of power and on the edge (including the forefront) of practice. At the edge of intersecting communities, it holds the strengths and tensions and benefits of being a military, university, and working class city all at once. Historically, it has been a valued friend to #power (see its naval history), a neglected friend (see the Plymouth blitz and its silencing) and also a rebellious enemy (see the Siege of Plymouth) of power. A city of many neighbourhoods, it hosts both prosperity and deprivation in differing forms - indeed, where there may not be material wealth there is often community wealth. Welcomeness, civic action, determination, grit and mutual support are a key part of the city’s social character. This is seen in POP’s membership of 380 active and diverse groups and that 26% of adult residents in Plymouth volunteer at least once per month. The power of community is one of the most fundamental aspects of what can form Stockton into the beautiful vision we all have for it. 🌇 When people from all backgrounds, religions, communities, and beliefs can come together with a shared purpose, we can all further advance our strengths, create long-lasting solutions, and build a better, stronger Stockton. A strong Stockton community can bridge the divide, bring more engagement, support, and the growth we need as a city. It can allow people to achieve goals that wouldn’t be possible alone. Whether through unifying action, shared resources, and partnerships, communities have the ability to bring the change you want. As a unified community, we can uplift one another and create a sense of belonging within families and neighborhoods. If our local government can’t bring the change, we can. Whether it’s in times of devastation or celebration, it’s the unity and strength of this very community that reminds us we are stronger together than apart. ❤️ Stockton, we can all make the change! 🙌

I'm such a fan of #communityengagement - such a powerful way to hear from people, explore different ideas and perspectives, and find ways to connect and collaborate. It is an important part of addressing the #polarity we seem to be experiencing across so many different topics. Some of the toughest questions we're experiencing in our communities can be tackled by engaging with people, surfacing ideas and perspectives, and finding common solutions. It is hard to be afraid of or stand in judgement of people when you are sitting across the table from them enjoying an egg-salad sandwich! Before you issue your next RFP for a challenge you're facing in your community, might I suggest you start with a facilitated community conversation to scope out the actual issues? #economicaloption Comment below to tell me about a sticky situation in your community or a helpful community conversation you've been part of. For those of you who don't know, I have other passions outside of accounting! One of those is Templeogue United. My connection started as an eager 5-year-old who thought he would one day play for Ireland and Manchester United... we all need to dream. I was fortunate enough to be elected as Chair of the Club's Executive Committee in 2021 after being on the committee since 2013. We embarked on an audacious project in late 2020 to complete a full refurbishment of the ground floor of our existing clubhouse and are now just a few months away from completion. This project would not be possible without the help and support of the following: 1.    The Volunteers: The many volunteers who keep our club running and provide happiness (and some sadness!) to approximately 600 boys and girls every week. These volunteers often double up as coaches, players, committee members, and fundraisers. 2.    The Parents: The parents who make a big effort to get their kids to training, matches, and camps throughout the year. We rely on the yearly subscriptions to support the club's costs, and we wouldn't be able to survive without the timely receipt of these amounts. On this topic, we extend our gratitude to ClubZap, who have transformed the administrative process of registering players. 3.     Sponsors and Financial Institutions: Our goal is to provide best-in-class facilities to our members and the wider community. To do this, we rely on the support of many sponsors. From sponsoring new kits to funding trips away, the generosity of certain people knows no bounds. We have too many sponsors to mention, but thank you all! For such a big project like the clubhouse refurbishment, we still needed more, and this is where our partnership with Heritage Credit Union Dublin became a priority. Their help and support have been invaluable. Special thanks to Alan Roche and Niall Manning QFA PB. We share a common goal, community engagement! 4.    Grant support: We received a grant through the Sports Capital Programme, which would not have been possible without the support of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, the Football Association of Ireland, South Dublin County Council, and the various TDs and councillors who supported our application. Finally, it would be remiss of me not to include a plug for a major fundraiser that we are running to assist with the cost of delivering this project. Richard Cho Veteran Housing Corp would ask three questions about the housing projects you support or are involved with: 1. How much funding, federal tax credits, or government benefits or incentives from all government sources did the projects receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants will not be displaced after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8
