Is there a perfect career path for a Project Planning Engineer? Young Engineer: According to me the best career path for a Planning Engineer is this. a) When you are young, work with professionals, expand your network within the industry you are working; and then. b) Establish your own business in this industry, so you don't have to work for someone. That's the safest way establishing your own company, since you are not starting from scratch. What is your view on this? Me : I appreciate your thought process, however I believe there is no best or safest career path out there. Whatever path you choose, has challenges, setbacks and failures. At a particular point of time, we may think that this or that is the best approach, As we grow and gain experience in the industry, we might get new ideas and the old ones may look irrelevant, and that is perfectly ok. My suggestion is that when you are working in the industry for whatever time, you need to be hungry and curious, do not set rules for spending particular years in a profile. You may feel you are ready in 5 years, then go for the business, if you face setbacks, go back to the job, learn and come back again and try. Young Engineer : You're absolutely right, there's no perfect way. It could be only the one where I feel passionate about. Can you give an example of a business opportunity that I explore to start my business with the experience of a project planning engineer? Me : I often observe a gap between Project Management processes and Contracting & Legal procedures, you may explore this area if you like. Young Engineer : Thank you What do you think, Is there is a perfect career path? Do share your career journey. And youngsters, please share the career path you would like to choose? #projectplanning #projectcontrols

One profound lesson I have come to learn is that being a moldable professional is very key to building one’s career. It allows you to take up any challenge that requires you to step up when circumstances change. You become immovable and yet able to acclimate yourself to new responsibilities and carry them out diligently. Not only have I had a privilege to serve as a Senior Project Engineer on a very key project, but accepting a new responsibility as Site Manager has been an important step in discovering some of my abilities and developing new ones in order to carry out this challenging role diligently. #projectmanagement #environmentalmanagement #sitemanagement #siteengineer

Career planning is essential for construction professionals who want to establish a long-term career in the industry. Without a strategic plan in place, professionals may find themselves constantly reacting to last-minute projects and job opportunities, leading to a lack of stability and inconsistent growth. By taking the time to carefully map out career goals, individuals can position themselves for success by pursuing opportunities that align with their long-term aspirations, whether that be within project management, engineering, or other specialised areas within the field. #ConstructionCareers #CareerPlanning #LongTermSuccess
