As I engage with the new generation of leaders at Renata, I’m constantly inspired by the potential and passion they bring. It’s clear that our industry is full of promise, and the desire to learn and understand more deeply is evident in every conversation. This hunger for knowledge has been one of the driving forces behind the growth of Bangladesh's pharmaceutical industry over the last few years. We’ve made significant progress because we’ve committed ourselves to understanding the complexities of this industry. However, there remains a gap – one that stems from the absence of structured guidance that other major markets, like India and China, benefit from. If we want to continue thriving, we must do more than just learn; we need to align more closely across the industry. Collaboration is key. Inter-company and intra-company leaders need to come together, speak up, share ideas, and push not only their own companies but the entire industry forward. This isn’t just about growth for the sake of growth, but about building a future where the collective knowledge and innovation we foster today paves the way for lasting success tomorrow. Let’s be the generation of leaders that not only leads but lifts each other up.

🌏 APAC Nations Lead the Way in Global Innovation and Attract Increased FDI https://lnkd.in/gfDvZQ77 The Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO ranks 133 economies based on their innovation capabilities and performance. This year’s report highlights significant shifts in global innovation leadership, with several Asia-Pacific (APAC) countries emerging as key players.

There is a strong link between robust innovation ecosystems and increased FDI inflows - It is great to see APAC Nations Lead the Way in Global Innovation and Attract Increased FDI. The Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), ranks 133 economies based on innovation capabilities and performance.

Let’s work together to turn the future of Europe around! ⌛️ In the newest edition of POLITICO, European business leaders are calling for action to accelerate efforts to support biosolutions innovation and other sustainable answers to major challenges and avoid falling behind other parts of the world. Our CEO Ester Baiget is among them:  “We need regulation based on the future, not the past. Biosolutions for a healthier planet and healthier lives are already here. We need regulations for the future to ensure the speed and scalability of these green and sustainable solutions and to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness,” she says.  Ester is quoted alongside CEO Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen from Novo Nordisk, CEO Vincent Clerc from A.P. Moller - Maersk and CEO Kim Fausing from Danfoss in the piece by Danish Industry. There is still hope for Europe. The talent, the resources and the historical commitment to lead the world in sustainable innovation is there. Now, we must work together to accelerate the efforts in updating regulatory frameworks to better support biosolutions innovation. This requires simplifying the process for bringing the products and technologies to the European market, enhancing funding for research and scaling and creating awareness of the potential of biosolutions. 🚩 The European Innovation Scoreboard 2024! I'm thrilled to share that my home country, Denmark, has once again secured its position as the top innovator among EU member states in the latest European Innovation Scoreboard! This year, Denmark saw a significant 2 to 5 percentage point increase in its innovation score compared to 2023. This development can be attributed to innovative companies like Novo Nordisk, A.P. Moller - Maersk, Danfoss, and many more. However, it's important to recognize that the broader EU landscape faces huge challenges. With 11 member states experiencing a decline in their innovation performance, it underscores the urgency for continued focus and action in fostering radical innovation across the EU. Put differently: it's great to see a host of impressive numbers and positive results for some. But frankly, there are countries and companies that should be shaking in their boots. Today, on International Women’s Day, we took the opportunity to talk to one of our inspiring women at Walki. Annika Sundell has in her role as Executive Vice President for Innovation, Business Development and Sustainability, been instrumental in helping our customers make the transitions towards a circular future.  Equipped with graduate degree in polymer technology and with prior experience of leading companies as well as R&D teams, Annika has successfully navigated Walki’s innovation activities to support both business and sustainability objectives. The past years have been characterized by fast change, both within Walki as well as in the world. How does Annika navigate change? "The challenge lies in the constantly shifting goalposts and the nuanced nature of measuring success. Unlike my previous roles where success was often quantifiable by a single financial metric, here it's about breaking down complex objectives into manageable projects, milestones and tasks and set a new course when new insights demand it. Even though I got a clear mandate to drive Walki’s and our customers’ transition towards circularity, I have been surprised at the magnitude of change that is happening.” What is Annika’s secret to leading innovation for a sustainable future in our fast-changing world? “I try to demystify complexity and here transparency is key. I want my teams to remain connected to the bigger picture while tackling their individual challenges. In an industry driven by expertise and development, acknowledging 'Eureka' moments and underscoring the significance of teamwork is essential.” What is motivating you the most? “I’ve always been curious to see how theoretical concepts work in real life, both in business and science. When I started studying polymer technology, compostable and biodegradable polymers were just in their cradle. And today at Walki we have the solutions in our portfolio! At Walki I’m inspired by the fact that we do not just innovate for the sake of business growth.
