Unpopular opinion: The job market is showing the rest of the world what Black, Brown and POC folks have been dealing with for decades. If you hate what you are experiencing, help to dismantle the system that supports this mess. And before you ask, I am doing the work by: - Empowering, educating and working with marginalized groups to make sure they are prepared for ANY market. - Calling out crappy behavior AND providing solutions. Once you get back on top, remember your experience and do the work. #opentowork #careerdevelopment #careeradvancement

Cronyism can show up in non profits. Newly hired staff stated to another applicant they were friends with an employee at a non profit org in Springfield. Two out of the three hired repeatedly notified the other candidate of their connections were not aware they were all applying for the same position. None of them were members of the org, and none of them did leadership training courses which were highly desired in the organizer positions posted. Knowing various types of law means you can quickly put things together and can identify where there might be unfair employment practices even if candidates are interviewed by the orgs Board members. I was told by one of my interviewers a board member I would hear from them and that my interview and questions were perfect. Every answer to a question not only answered one question but also answered the following questions over 50% of the interview process. Things don't add up when the employees friends get hired and don't have the same qualifications or less qualifications including having multiple experiences of homelessness and housing disparities. #cronyism

I’m here to lead the fair-chance movement. This is more than a job; it’s my calling. I was created to help millions of people find hope, redemption, and ultimately, self-actualization. I’m not just a talking head. I’m a builder and a doer, as capable as anyone, but with more grit. Honest Jobs is used by hundreds of thousands of justice-impacted people every month to connect with fair-chance employers and critical resource providers nationally. I’m proud of what my team has accomplished, but we have even bigger dreams that are clearly within reach: - Empowering every incarcerated person to come home with a high-quality and up-to-date reentry plan - Partnering with education and upskilling organizations to increase career mobility - Building solutions to housing barriers through partnerships and in-house solutions - Building industry-specific coalitions to build trust and drive change - Providing quality training to employers, reentry professionals, community corrections, and justice-impacted individuals - Advocating for policies that reduce unnecessary collateral consequences - And more. #GodsPlan #FairChance #SecondChance #HonestJobs

🚨 We need dedicated employer partners! 🚨 Our goal is to place 1,234 individuals into meaningful jobs by September 2025, and we need your help to make it happen. These talented individuals, many of whom have faced barriers like justice system involvement or reliance on programs such as TANF and SNAP, have completed training in one of seven specialized technology pathways and are eager to bring their skills to your team. The financial impact is significant: - With an average starting salary of $45k-$55k, these placements could generate $55M to $68M annually in earned wages for the state of Tennessee. - Reducing dependence on TANF, SNAP, and similar benefits leads to millions in savings for families and taxpayers. - Empowering individuals impacted by the justice system lowers recidivism rates, stabilizes communities, and strengthens families. By partnering with us, you'll gain access to a motivated, diverse talent pool while playing a crucial role in rebuilding lives and communities. Let’s work together to make a difference! Nonprofit job boards have all kinds of jobs but seem to have especially high concentrations of executive and comms roles. Here are a few good #nonprofitjobs boards on Job Search Database: Idealist.org - Has been a go-to for nonprofits for years and one that is in my personal job search rotation. Devex - Focuses on development jobs-- international, social, agricultural... 80,000 Hours - Based on the idea that you only have 80K hours in your career (😵💫) so you might as well do something useful with them. Philanthropy News Digest - Run by a nonprofit data collection company Candid and using all that data collection know-how to create a very active nonprofit board. Mac's List -This Portland/NW job board isn't limited to nonprofits, but it has an especially good collection of nonprofit jobs if you're in Oregon or Washington. Browse *additional* nonprofit + nearly 400 additional niche job boards to focus in and limit the noise of your #jobsearch at jobsearchdb.com

Hey LinkedIn whanau - I'm joining the #OpenToWork community and as much as Frank likes having me at home - I need to keep him in treats and pack walks with his hound mates. If you've worked with me before you'll know that after 20 years, I've got a pretty sound knowledge of strategic comms, excellent influencing skills and political agility - so get in touch and Frank can have his pack walks again. #strategiccommunications #governmentrelations #machineryofgovernment #influence #insight
