African Women! Stop.👏🏿 Being.👏🏿 Humble.👏🏿 A good friend of mine has been trying to source a keynote speaker for an African women founders conference for months and while there has been much outreach we couldn’t help but notice how difficult it’s been to identify a speaker with the following: - African or of African descent - Scaled a business or operation to 8 figures+ - Has investment experience - Has raised capital - Posesses generational leadership And we know it’s not that they don’t exist, it’s that they’re not “googleable”. Humility is an important virtue but often times we believe society when it tells us that sharing our successes is arrogant. It’s not. It’s necessary. So please, for the sake of ambitious African women like myself who want more examples of what I’m trying to achieve, name some women who fit this mold in the comments👇🏿. And if you are one of these women, please do us all a favor and share your story! (Or get someone to do it for you) Because there are people you dont even know who are looking for you, and want to pay you⚡️

"We avoid using the word 'race' in Australia," said Ming Long AM when delivering the keynote speech at the third annual Wang Gungwu Lecture on Monday, an event celebrating Chinese Australians’ contributions to Australian life, hosted by the Australian government's National Foundation for Australia-China Relations (NFACR) 澳中基金会. "It's complex, so we don't talk about it. We have high defence mechanisms to avoid talking about race, protecting ourselves against any accusations of racism." During the lecture, Ming shared her childhood experiences of feeling like an outsider after migrating from Malaysia to a small Australian country town. She reflected upon the impacts of Australia’s lack of racial literacy and how discrimination in the workplace and lack of trust towards Asian Australians can impede career progression. While we are making progress on this front, Ming reminded us that we still have far to go. When discussing this sensitive topic, it is crucial to examine the data. The Global Gender Gap Report 2023, published by the World Economic Forum, sheds light on gender disparities worldwide. Here are some key findings: 👀 The global #gender #gap score for 146 countries included in this edition stands at 68.4% closed. At the current pace of progress, it will take 131 years to achieve full gender #parity. 📉 While the global parity score has recovered to pre-pandemic levels, the overall rate of change has slowed down significantly. Even reverting back to the time horizon of 100 years to parity projected in the 2020 edition would require a significant acceleration of progress. 🚀 Accelerating progress towards gender parity will not only improve outcomes for women and girls but also benefit economies and societies more widely, reviving growth, boosting innovation, and increasing resilience. 🔊 Today is an important day for all of us.
