The range of research conducted by an entire state or nation, and the impact of that research, is vast. Developing metrics to capture research impact is a challenge, but it is possible when the right data source presents a golden opportunity. Our study team, led by Susan Guthrie, Salil Gunashekar and Cagla Stevenson, used such a source to produce last week’s two important reports on the impact of UK and Scottish university research. The Research Excellence Framework is a key part of the UK higher education research landscape in which universities submit case studies. Analysing over 5,000 of these case studies provided the team with a rich source of data, enabling them to analyse the diverse impacts of the research nationally and globally, and the many complex ways by which these impacts came about. Thrilled to attend my first academic conference in Belgium 🇧🇪 Excited to share two studies on Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) that I've been working on during these years on Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration 1️⃣Exploring the role of Supreme Audit Institutions 🔍 in contemporary democracies, and how they've evolved into accountability watchdogs, alongside an analysis of public policy. 2️⃣Examining the experience of Contraloría General de la República 🇨🇱 in using social media to enhance public perception of public funds control and foster citizen reporting corruption 🗣️
