More than 117 million people were forcibly displaced at the end of 2023 as a result of war, violence, human rights violations, or political, ethnic, gender or religious persecution, according to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Our team recently developed a new resource, “In Their Own Voices: A Manual for Inclusive, Victim-Centered Documentation and Memorialization of Forced Displacement,” to support civil society organizations, activists, survivors and others as they work to counter negative stereotypes about forcibly displaced people; establish clear and truthful records of the violations that they have faced; and work to hold perpetrators formally accountable. Download this guide to learn about developing a victim-centered approach, building trust, empowering marginalized voices, and using innovative storytelling methods through art, body mapping, and more. #WithRefugees

#WednesdayReading | HumVenezuela presented the fourth assessment of the scale and severity of the Complex Humanitarian Emergency in #Venezuela. HumVenezuela conducts periodic measurements of the impacts on the population and evaluates their evolution in comparison to previous years to contribute to the protection of all affected people and ensure the fulfillment of their #rights. According to the report, 18% of #children and adolescents aged 3 to 17 were outside the #educational system in 2023, and 29.9% of the children not attending school were found to be working, mostly between the ages of 7 and 17. #Philanthropy is crucial in addressing the emergency by providing essential resources and support to vulnerable communities. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e9fhwWXr

Despite the increasing complexity and duration of conflicts, and the critical role peacebuilding plays in interrupting these cycles of violence, financial resources for peacebuilding work are declining. **Real Estate Leaders + Refugee Resettlement = ** Our team attended MIT Center for Real Estate's World Real Estate Forum last week & hosted a lunch discussion on the #RefugeeWelcomingRentalMarket with C-suite executives from Redevco, Fannie Mae (the 4th-largest company in the world!), and more. We’re making connections that have a ton of potential, but need your help to continue serving refugees & landlords. Please donate or share our GoFundMe for grassroots support (LINK IN COMMENTS) sooner rather than later, since platforms like GoFundMe boost campaigns that boom in the first week! #refugees #realestate

🌀 Let's Redirect Resources to Where They're Needed Most 🌀 In times of crisis, it's essential to utilize all available resources to help those in need. Instead of using helicopters for less constructive purposes, why not deploy them to assist in flood-affected areas? 🌧️ By repurposing these assets for humanitarian aid, we can turn a potential negative into a positive impact for our communities. 🤝 #DisasterRelief #VolunteerWork #CharityEfforts #GivingBack #HelpingHands #SupportLocal #TogetherWeCan #MakingADifference #SpreadLove #Empowerment #KindnessMatters #Compassion #Hope #Unity #Gratitude #SocialGood #BeTheChange #Philanthropy #CommunityOutreach #GlobalImpact #HumanityFirst #CrisisResponse #EmergencyAid #ReliefEfforts #CompassionateAction #HumanitarianCrisis #RebuildingLives #CommunityDevelopment #DisasterResponse #VolunteerOpportunities #CommunityService

🌍 A Real Impact: Empowering Refugee Families Through Connectivity 🌍 At Wavelength, we’ve seen firsthand the life-changing power of digital connectivity. Our recent donation of over 200 SIM cards to refugee families in Swindon has enabled access to critical services—NHS applications, school registration, and staying connected with family. This story is just one example of how digital inclusion can improve lives. But we need to think bigger. To ensure no one is left behind, we’re calling on policymakers to make free or subsidized broadband available to all marginalized communities across the UK. The impact could be transformative. Denver's Migrant Community Housing Drive Helping migrants navigate their way to independence - This is not a temporary shelter campaign, rather a move towards sustainably transitioning people to housing. I am one of thousands of locals contributing to #Denver’s #communityoutreach to support our growing migrant population. Since last year, we have pooled resources to help ease their transition. Our work includes clothing/food/essentials distribution, legal aid, and what I feel is most important - #housing. ~31,000 migrants arrived in Denver last year with likely more to come. As the burden is too high, the city must discharge families from the shelters. Under asylum, the migrants are here legally and able to apply for work authorization, but there is a fee of $410. Earning the fee is difficult with the burden of food and housing costs and no legal means to work – then applying and receiving approval takes months. With #crowdfunding, we can keep families housed through the Denver winter, speed up their inclusion, and relieve the burden on taxpayers and the city. If 1,000 people give $10, we could house 3-4 families for 3 months and cover their application fees. But most only need partial assistance allowing us to help more families. They want to work, and many are finding their way with the help of our local outreach. #ittakesavillage. Please join us by donating what you can and more importantly, pass it on (#passiton)!! **Many hands make light the work** Feel free to reach out to me directly if you’re interested in helping in other ways. #housingforall #helpinghands #donating #neighborshelpingneighbors #supportingfamilies #homelessnessissolvable #sharingeconomy https://gofund.me/3d9b21b7 or VENMO @Stephanie-Park-466

World Humanitarian Day may have passed, but the conversation shouldn’t stop there. We all have a role to play in making a difference, whether it’s through big initiatives or small acts of kindness. In my article, I explore the Saviorism Mentality—the idea that sometimes, even with the best intentions, our efforts can have unintended consequences. It's a reminder that our approach to helping others needs to be thoughtful and respectful. Take a moment to read it and consider how we can all contribute to a more effective and compassionate humanitarian effort: https://lnkd.in/gHQB2EHs Let’s keep doing good, but let’s make sure we’re doing it right. #WorldHumanitarianDay #Saviorism

Young people are great at “going.” 🚀 In a world that suffers from debilitating disconnection - across all socioeconomic situations - going, walking into neighborhoods and into building relationships with people is a game changer. The world we live in has everything we need already in it to make it all work. If we can push past mistaken certainties, we can uncover the keys to real breakthroughs toward the SDGs and so much more. 🚀Launch youth out of their bedrooms & digital screens to go out to build relationships across their communities. 🤝 Let them ignite city wide movements that weave together businesses, academia, churches, nonprofits & philanthropists to support & participate in community created solutions. 💥Team & learn together as communities are transformed, as young people graduate & go on to reach their dreams and our cities learn to grow together -including immigrant & refugee families trying to begin new lives. #growingleaders #loveyourcity #youthaschangemakers #givegogrow

This post presents an illusionary notion that the GMC actually cares about refugee doctors. When in reality the GMC are being legally challenged by Anaesthesia Consultants for allowing unqualified AA,s (acting as fake doctors )but allowed to practise on unsuspecting public. The GMC are also guilty of enabling AA’s to gain medical training originally intended for real doctors in training. Consequently leaving doctors without a place on courses or training routes. This is outrageous and demonstrates the way the GMC is being disingenuous and is no longer fit for purpose (as regulator and upholder of medical standards) the GMC is a disgrace but presents itself in an illusionary and disingenuous way!
We’re proud to support Refugee Week and help doctors with refugee status to join our register 🧡 We work with several organisations (Refugee Council, REACHE, IPC NATIONAL CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, RefuAid, and the British Medical Association) to provide advice to refugee doctors before they apply for registration and a licence to practise or sit the Professional and Linguistics Board test (PLAB). At a time that’s already stressful and challenging, it’s important that we offer our support from the very start, and we tailor this to each doctor’s individual circumstances. You can read more about our work to help refugee doctors on our website: https://lnkd.in/dJf63yuV #RefugeeWeek
