🌟 What are we collaborating on with the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES)? Our project, called SmartRoMaIn, aims to enhance efficiency in wind rotor blade manufacturing. The project aims to significantly reduce manufacturing defects, increase production rates, and reduce the risk of structural damage in the field. As a result, costly repair work can be avoided. Last week, we visited the IWES in Bremerhaven and dove deep into testing the limits of our LeadingCheck technology. 🚀 Fueling Innovation Together At 8tree, we believe that innovation thrives in collaboration. 💧 🔌 Funded by Interreg North Sea Programme and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, HyTrEc-2, a seven-year-long project explored the evolving business case for hydrogen adoption in transport systems. Uncover valuable insights into hydrogen vehicles, green hydrogen production, technology, and infrastructure across the North Sea Region of Countries (NSR).🔌💧 Cenex, as a key contributor to the project, led real-world vehicle trials, oversaw hydrogen-powered forklift simulations, and played a pivotal role in disseminating knowledge. This is awesome news! Environmental regulatory boards are increasingly concerned about the noise produced during offshore wind projects installation. Recently, strict measures and stringent noise limits have been imposed to protect the marine ecosystem and ensure sustainability. Such lower noise installation technology would be a milestone in providing sustainable projects for offshore wind. Also, the Americas region is witnessing a surge, and momentum is building up in offshore wind projects, with significant implications for the renewable energy landscape. In Canada, we are seeing increasing interest and investment in offshore wind, particularly on the Atlantic coast, with great potential and increased interest recently on the west coast too. The potential for offshore wind in Canada is immense, with vast coastal areas offering excellent wind resources on par with the North Sea (around 10.3 m/s). This growth is crucial for meeting our climate goals and transitioning to a sustainable energy future. Several projects are in the pipeline, promising to boost local economies and create jobs. For instance, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador are emerging as key players, with ambitious plans to harness offshore wind energy. As someone deeply involved in the marine and renewable energy sectors, it's thrilling to witness this momentum. Offshore wind not only provides a clean energy source but also fosters technological innovation and collaboration across borders. Looking ahead, the Canadian offshore wind market is poised for substantial growth. With supportive policies, technological advancements, and collaboration between industry and government, we can expect a bright future for offshore wind in Canada. As we embark on the journey through 2024, everyone at Floating Power Plant is brimming with excitement and anticipation. Reflecting on the monumental achievements of 2023, we are filled with pride and gratitude. Last year was marked by significant milestones and groundbreaking announcements. A highlight that stands out is the momentous occasion in December when we secured a grant of 26 million Euros from the European Commission Innovation Fund. This pivotal funding is instrumental in bringing our first commercial-scale platform to fruition. Additionally, we received substantial support from the Danish Energy Agency's EUDP - Det Energiteknologiske Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram, which is accelerating our efforts to innovate and commercialize our technology. 2023 was nothing short of extraordinary for Floating Power Plant, and we're eager to continue this momentum. We have a plethora of exciting developments on the horizon and we can't wait to share them with you. The European Commission has approved the fourth Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) designed to support the development of 13 projects in seven countries. In its latest round, Hy2Move will be provided with up to €1.4bn ($1.52bn) in public funding from the participating Member States, which include France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Estonia, the Netherlands and Slovakia. H2 View understands this could leverage another €3.3bn in additional private funding. The initiative will involve 13 projects being developed by 11 different companies, including Air Products, Airbus, BMW, Evolution synergetique, Hydrogen de France, Tomark, Michelin, UFI, Neumann & Essar, Skeleton and Gen-Hy Cube. With over 200 partners, Hy2Move will build on previous hydrogen projects designed to implement hydrogen technology into the mobility and transportation sector.
