Conservation is something that resonates deeply with me, and it’s not just because I care about plants and animals—though I definitely do. It’s about so much more than that. Conservation is about preserving the delicate balance of our planet, ensuring that future generations can experience the same wonders of nature that we enjoy today. It’s about recognizing our role as stewards of the Earth, and understanding that our actions have far-reaching consequences. One of the things I love most about conservation is the sense of hope it brings. In a world where we’re constantly reminded of environmental challenges—deforestation, species extinction, climate change—conservation offers a way forward. It’s a reminder that we can make a difference, that our collective efforts can lead to real, positive change. Whether it’s protecting an endangered species, restoring a damaged ecosystem, or simply reducing our own carbon footprint, every action counts.

“When Tigers Roar in Protest: Trump’s Presidency and Global Conservation” Donald Trump’s last presidency marked a shift in environmental priorities that raised concern globally, including conservation efforts in distant lands like India. The Bengal tiger, India’s national animal and a symbol of strength, faces mounting threats from climate change and habitat loss/challenges intensified by reduced environmental protections in the U.S. Trump’s rollbacks on environmental regulations, especially withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, weakened global commitments to tackling climate change. This shift threatens wildlife worldwide, as rising temperatures and disrupted ecosystems add pressure on fragile habitats. For India’s tigers, climate change exacerbates challenges like habitat degradation and human-wildlife conflict, jeopardizing conservation gains made over decades. India remains committed to protecting its wildlife, investing in renewable energy, reforestation, and tiger preservation efforts. However, global conservation requires unity. Trump’s approach serves as a reminder that policies in one country can ripple across borders, affecting species far from its own lands. Preserving biodiversity calls for global responsibility—because the survival of majestic creatures like the tiger majorly depends upon it. It’s high time that we should celebrate Triumph of collective efforts to save this Mother Earth Than Trump Of Donald

Environmental conservation is crucial for the well-being of the community as it ensures the sustainability of natural resources for future generations. By protecting ecosystems, we maintain clean air, water, and fertile soils, which are essential for health, agriculture, and local economies. Conservation also helps mitigate the impacts of climate change, reducing risks such as floods and droughts. Additionally, preserving biodiversity ensures that communities benefit from a rich variety of plants and animals that support ecological balance. Engaging in conservation efforts fosters a sense of responsibility and unity in protecting our shared environment for a better quality of life. #ClimateWavers #SafeandHealthyEnvironment

Discover how the Selous Ecosystem Conservation and Development (SECAD) project is transforming lives and landscapes in the Selous-Niassa Wildlife Corridor. Through sustainable beekeeping, local communities are reducing forest degradation, earning livelihoods, and conserving biodiversity. From traditional bark hives to modern beekeeping practices, hear inspiring stories of change, including how honey production is providing income, improving education, and promoting environmental stewardship. This is a journey of hope, resilience, and the powerful connection between people and nature.

Partnership is essential for successful approaches to conservation. As Dave Porter says, “We all need to be involved; we all need to play a role.” Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs) embody Indigenous leadership in conservation. These areas blend traditional knowledge with modern strategies, supported by governments and partners, to protect ecosystems, preserve culture and connection to lands and waters, and create lasting impact. By supporting this important work, we can build a healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come.

By combining carbon offsetting with “carbon plus nature” ecological restoration, Greenfleet offers the restoration movement a business-backed model to address both climate change and biodiversity loss. As CEO Wayne Wescott explains, their restoration work is backed by science, not greenwash and disinformation, as 'no amount of assertion will help us if we cannot prove our case scientifically.' Call to all companies. We know in business that the tide is turning towards sustainability and accountability. You are either part of the problem or part of the solution to climate change, mass extinction, ecocide, marine conservation.....the list seems endless. Worry not (it doesn't do any good anyway!). Did you know there are countless projects underway world wide making real change. You can be part of it. There's plenty of evidence out there that points towards a real benefit in placing the fight against #climatechange #ecocide #biodiversityloss at the heart of your business. But how? It's easier than you think. Here's an organisation that's nailing partnership for conservation world wide - see link below... In addition to EOCA European Outdoor Conservation Association I'd also urge you to contact Dan Wood or Adam Bastock . They are well placed to advice you on where to start your journey. The benefits will positively impact your whole workforce. Please share widely. Let's get the message out there! https://lnkd.in/erApVybu

Indigenous Peoples play a vital role in environmental conservation, drawing on generations of traditional ecological knowledge. For example, the Haida Nation in British Columbia uses traditional knowledge to manage marine resources sustainably. They practice selective fishing, protect spawning areas, and observe seasonal cycles to maintain fish populations. By integrating these practices, conservation efforts can be greatly enhanced, promoting a harmonious relationship with nature. Recognizing and respecting Indigenous stewardship is crucial for achieving environmental sustainability and resilience.

Stacy Jupiter and Emily Darling make the important point "MPAs and other managed areas cannot succeed in isolation. Rather they must be a part of more broadly managed seascapes where sustainable use is both enabled and properly regulated, where the impacts of climate change are minimized, where other threats such as pollution are effectively controlled, and where gender quality and gender-responsive plans are prioritized. To achieve long-term success for the 30×30 target, we must also prioritize the other 22 important targets within the GBF as they relate to sustainable ocean management, including climate-smart marine spatial planning, restoration of ecological integrity, control of invasive species, prevention of species extinction, promotion of sustainable use through policies that regulate harvest and control trade, and actions that mitigate pollution risk, among others."

Want to know what we're doing to be more environmentally friendly? We joined our Environmental & Sustainability Manager, Alice Murphy, as she visited sites across Scotland to showcase how we are looking to have a positive impact on the planet. Top of the list of our priorities is conservation, both on site and in our local communities. Alice walks us through the team's efforts at the 400kV Kintore Substation site to aid the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative in protecting the local water vole population as well as the importance of becoming a River Dee Guardian with the River Dee Trust . #WeAreOmexom #sustainability #environment

Mangrove restoration and conservation projects offer a multitude of environmental, socio-economic and climatic benefits. By capturing large amounts of carbon, these coastal ecosystems contribute significantly to the fight against climate change while protecting coasts, promoting biodiversity and supporting the livelihoods of local communities. These projects thus constitute sustainable investments, both for the environment and for human development.
