Why do people underestimate the complexity of HR's role? As someone who previously worked in tech and didn't hold HR in high regard, my perspective shifted dramatically when a highly accomplished HR professional (June Hazzard) encouraged me to explore it, setting me on a new career path. If HR were easy, how is it that a single HR person is routinely entrusted to manage the demanding tasks of compliance, audits, and deadlines mandated by federal, state, and local governments, along with processing payroll on time, talent acquistion, offering career coaching and counseling, implementing learning and development initiatives, safety programs, and violence prevention measures, all while supporting every phase of employees' lifecycle and the company's operations? In contrast, it typically takes at least five IT professionals to support the same number of employees, without the additional pressures of government regulations and reporting deadlines. Apologies to my former IT colleagues, but #HR professionals are truly superheroes!
Oh yeah? Come and try it for a day and let's see.
HR is a very under appreciated role. No company can survive without them yet they never receive the recognition for keeping the wheels turning. I know I'm a big fan of at least one HR professional I know.
