Have you ever found yourself getting defensive over the idea that you have "privilege" which your ethnic or socio-cultural background has given you? 🛡 😡 You may want to check out the following clip from the Arbinger Institute's "Outward Inclusion" training... https://lnkd.in/gf-jXu3D The reframing of this idea as "headwinds and tailwinds" is 💕 BEAUTIFUL. 💕 We live in an unfair world where not everyone is afforded the same resources or opportunities. Worse, we're often blind to how we, or others, have been helped or hindered by the "winds" in our lives — we often attribute our success to ourselves and our own efforts, and assume that others aren't succeeding because they don't care enough, don't work hard enough, or because they refuse to give up their avocado toast. I wonder what the world would be like if, instead, we strove to see others straightforwardly as people worthy of our love and care; if we remained open to the real experiences of others and strove not to judge, but to be maximally helpful and empathetic. Would it be so terrible if we cared about each other so much that we worked to make sure that everyone had dignity, safety, fulfillment, and success at work? Society is a construct — we can make it whatever we want. Let's make those choices every day to choose a better world for ourselves and our children.

Recent events have compelled me to share a personal experience that underscores the importance of holding multinational companies accountable for their values. In my years as a senior resource within a well-known organization, I have consistently strived to embody the values that attracted me to this company. My record speaks for itself - a commitment to excellence, dedication, and a clean professional slate. However, recent decisions within the company have left me questioning the alignment between actions and stated values. It is disheartening to witness a situation where justice and equality seem to have taken a backseat, despite one's seniority and untarnished reputation. This experience has ignited a passion within me to shed light on the importance of corporate values being more than just words on paper. We live in an era where corporate responsibility extends beyond profit margins. It encompasses treating every individual, regardless of their position, with fairness and respect. It's high time we collectively rally awareness and take tangible steps toward creating truly inclusive work environments. "Bias, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder." - Charlie Munger I recently had the privilege of leading a workshop on "50 Ways to Fight Bias". In our journey towards fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace, it is paramount to confront and dismantle biases that can subtly shape our perceptions and actions. This workshop delved into profound strategies and perspectives to help participants uncover and address biases in meaningful ways. 🔹 Highlights of the workshop: 1. Understanding the different types of bias. 2. Practical ways to recognize and counteract bias. 3. Real-life scenarios and discussions. 4. Strategies to continue the journey towards a bias-free environment. I'm thankful to Elisa Montanari for organizing this workshop and grateful for the enthusiastic participants for meaningful conversations.
