As we enter Sexual Assault Awareness Month, it's imperative to recognize the critical role parents, especially mothers, play in fostering a safe environment for their daughters to discuss sensitive topics like sexual assault. Our daughters need to feel empowered to come to us with their concerns, knowing they will be met with understanding, support, and most importantly, belief. By creating an open dialogue about consent, boundaries, and respect from an early age, we equip them with the tools to navigate challenging situations with confidence. Let's pledge to cultivate a safe space where our daughters feel heard and valued, free from judgment or shame. By breaking the silence surrounding sexual assault and advocating for prevention and support services, we can work towards a future where all individuals, regardless of gender, feel safe, respected, and empowered to speak up against any form of abuse. Together, let's stand in solidarity with survivors, educate our communities, and take meaningful action to end the prevalence of sexual violence. 🔵 #MotherDaughterStrong #SAAM #MotherDaughterTalks #BuildingBonds #MotherDaughterConversations #Trust #MotherDaughterCommunication #Connections #SafeSpace #BelieveSurvivors

Great info provided by the SOS Kansas staff for this #SAAM2024 segment. This week in the series, we focused on the individual prevention strategy of prevention education with children and youth, as well as community level strategies like ensuring affordable childcare is available—which IS a sexual violence prevention method. Have you connected the dots about how access to affordable childcare can reduce child sexual abuse? Let’s #buildconnectedcommunities and support these systemic solutions to prevent sexual violence before it happens!
What can you do to prevent sexual violence against children? Turns out, a lot! Thanks to Michelle McCormick, LMSW, executive director of Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV), for inviting Ginny and Danielle with SOS, Inc. in Emporia to shine light on this important issue.

April is a significant month as CAN Community Health comes together to recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). It’s a time to raise our voices, spread awareness and stand in solidarity against sexual violence. This year’s “Building Connected Communities” campaign launched by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, highlights the crucial role of inclusive, equitable and connected communities in the fight against abuse, assault and harassment. In our journey towards building a more compassionate world for all, it’s vital to educate ourselves, advocate for others and actively challenge harmful attitudes and behaviors that may contribute negatively to the health and well-being of survivors. Survivors of sexual violence can find resources from the National Sexual Assault Hotline, a confidential 24/7 support center online at online.rainn.org or at (800)656-4673. Together, let’s break the silence and promote a culture of consent and accountability. #SAAM #SAAM2024 #SexualAssaultAwarenessMonth #BreakTheSilence #BuildingConnectedCommunities #CANCommunityHealth

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. 💔 Can you believe that every 68 seconds, another American becomes a victim of sexual assault? It's a staggering reality that demands attention and action. 💔 Did you know that 1 out of every 6 American women has experienced attempted or completed rape in her lifetime, and about 3% of American men have faced the same? These numbers are not just statistics; they represent the profound impact of sexual violence on individuals and communities. 💔 Even more heartbreaking is the fact that from 2009-2013, Child Protective Services substantiated 63,000 cases of child sexual abuse annually. The majority of these victims are between the ages of 12-17, but shockingly, 34% of victims of sexual assault and rape are under the age of 12. This is not just a problem; it's a crisis that affects people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. But together, we can raise awareness, support survivors, and work towards preventing future incidents. Let's start by asking questions, learning more, and taking action. What can we do to combat sexual violence in our communities? How can we support survivors? Share your thoughts and let's spark meaningful conversations that lead to positive change. Mark your calendars for #BlueUmbrellaDay! ☂️ It is a global event observed on 16 April every year, to raise awareness about child abuse prevention and promote the rights of children to live free from violence and abuse. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a month dedicated to calling attention to the fact that sexual violence is widespread and affects every person in every community. SAAM aims to raise public awareness about sexual abuse, harassment, and assault and educate communities about how to be involved in prevention. The theme for this year’s SAAM is: “Building Connected Communities.” ATSA members occupy an essential aspect of community intervention and prevention. They foster an environment where intervention is foundational and they prevent harm through direct engagement with individuals at risk of causing it. Together, we're building a future where ending sexual harm is a shared responsibility and an achievable goal. #SAAM2024 #ConnectedCommunities

6moJen Kramer AnnieCannons Can anybody tell me why on earth a woman is allowed and has the right to dress and go "sexy" everywhere, while a man has no right to feel excited or even "INVITED" to touch her ? Watch Jennifer Connelly in Career Opportunities (1991), for example - why is it allowed for a girl or a woman to go like this, actually aiming at "drawing attention", while expecting "no reaction" ? Do girls or women go like this without thinking about (men's) reactions, or do they want to de-manlize us, or it is just to excersice POWER - a gender POWER ? And again: Why does a woman has the right to deprive me of my right to feel as a "man" ? Before setting rules for men to hold back their hands, rules should also be set for women to dress BEAUTIFULLY and ELEGANTLY, and not half-nakedly ! #men #manly #manliness #women #dresscode #right #wrong #elegance #beauty #life #power #powerplay #sexy
