I’m thrilled to share my incredible experience during my 45-day sales internship at Mondelez International. This journey has been a blend of learning, growth, and real-world application of my academic knowledge. Throughout my internship, I had the opportunity to: - Visit various Stand-Alone Stores (SAS) and Grow outlets, understanding the retail landscape. - Engage directly with retailers, gaining insights into market dynamics and customer preferences. - Tackle real challenges like product placement and visibility issues, and develop strategies to improve sales. - Conduct in-depth analysis on sales data and consumer feedback, leading to actionable recommendations for increasing market share. Key learnings from this experience include: -The importance of pricing strategies in consumer decision-making. -Effective product placement and promotional tactics in driving sales. -The value of direct retailer feedback in shaping sales strategies. 🚀 Exciting Start to Day 2 at Internship Experience UK 2024 🌟 The second day of Internship Experience UK 2024 kicked off with a powerful keynote from Laura Tye, Legal Director at Clyde & Co. Laura shared her remarkable journey from Dubai to London, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of career paths and the importance of resilience. Her insights on embracing opportunities and avoiding complacency resonated deeply. Laura's message was clear: "There's no such thing as being overprepared in your career, especially in the beginning." 🌍 This perspective underscored the need to stay curious and adaptable, as careers often evolve in unexpected ways. Following Laura, we had the privilege of hearing from Victoria Stedman, Commercial Colleague Engagement Manager at British Airways, facilitated by Rachel Delaney, Head of B2C Marketing at Bright Network. Victoria outlined BA’s commercial vision, focusing on fostering a happy, united team to deliver industry-leading revenue margins through exceptional service. 🌟 She also addressed key challenges such as geopolitical conflicts, economic instability, and climate change, highlighting BA's significant commercial transformation initiatives. This includes re-platforming efforts like a new website and app designed for proactive customer engagement, alongside dedicated three-year graduate programmes that promise exciting opportunities for emerging talent. 🛫 The session continued with Daisy Thompson, Sales Sustainability Lead, and Juetong Liang, Product Technology Engineering Graduate from Nestlé. They emphasized the crucial role of sustainability in the food sector, noting that one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions originate from food systems. Their discussion on innovation in Nestlé included a focus on integrating key process components with an eye towards safety, health, and regional demands. 🌍 The importance of methodical, multifunctional cooperation to innovate swiftly was a standout point, showcasing Nestlé’s commitment to rapid prototyping and testing to meet sustainability goals. If I ever need to choose only one word to describe my MIT journey at Four Seasons, I will definitely go for the “privilege” one. This might sound too much; however, it is exactly what I could think of after being given so many opportunities to learn, to ask, to practise, to work and to act here at Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An. I always regard myself as a “planner” who prefers organising everything on my own from the original plan A to the back-up plan Z, to waiting for what the universe is putting in order for me. This might be unnecessary since we all know that life is not working that way. But believe me, living with a plan makes you feel more proactive and really gives you the direction. My goal of becoming an MIT here was first started when I was learning about the company’s internship programs to prepare for my very 1st mandatory one at university. After experiencing myself and learning that this is exactly the right place, I started working harder on my personal image, paying more attention to my studies and seriously building up the required profile until I received a nod of approval: “You are potential, and we would like to give you this chance.” That was also when I knew my hard work would definitely pay off. I have currently completed 3/4 of my training progress as an MIT by being rotated in different service sectors to gain a deep understanding of their functions and responsibilities with the guidance from my leaders and seniors. Despite several shortcomings, I am pleased to see myself growing and becoming a better version that I always expect myself to be. There will still be a long way to go, but I appreciate all the opportunities given and want to thank myself for never thinking of giving up. And that is my journey with Four Seasons. It feels almost like a day is how fast a week looks like in corporate. I am so happy to share my first week at Nestlé as an Human Resource intern has been filled with new experiences and a lot of learning. It's truly unique to come to a space which is home to all the amazing products we love! In my interaction with multiple people across, a few key things I have realised is - (1) Know your goals - It's imperative that you know what exactly is expected in terms of key deliverables. A thorough understanding leads you to have a smooth experience with less mismatches in work (2) Understand your stakeholders - very important for presenting good work is knowing your stakeholders. In case you have multiple stakeholders, understand their priorities, and curate your work accordingly. (3) Learn as you do - A lot of things that I learnt this week were because I tried learning new skills that I was scared to try earlier because I felt I may fail at it, so it's all about trying and learning. And last but not least, to enjoy the experience, Summer internship is a great way to connect to new people and create new friendships! Afterall it's about - Good food, Good life
