Laura shared her remarkable journey from Dubai to London, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of career paths and the importance of resilience. Her insights on embracing opportunities and avoiding complacency resonated deeply. Laura's message was clear: "There's no such thing as being overprepared in your career, especially in the beginning." 🌍 This perspective underscored the need to stay curious and adaptable, as careers often evolve in unexpected ways.
Following Laura, we had the privilege of hearing from Victoria Stedman, Commercial Colleague Engagement Manager at British Airways, facilitated by Rachel Delaney, Head of B2C Marketing at Bright Network. Victoria outlined BA’s commercial vision, focusing on fostering a happy, united team to deliver industry-leading revenue margins through exceptional service. 🌟 She also addressed key challenges such as geopolitical conflicts, economic instability, and climate change, highlighting BA's significant commercial transformation initiatives. This includes re-platforming efforts like a new website and app designed for proactive customer engagement, alongside dedicated three-year graduate programmes that promise exciting opportunities for emerging talent. 🛫
The session continued with Daisy Thompson, Sales Sustainability Lead, and Juetong Liang, Product Technology Engineering Graduate from Nestlé. They emphasized the crucial role of sustainability in the food sector, noting that one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions originate from food systems. Their discussion on innovation in Nestlé included a focus on integrating key process components with an eye towards safety, health, and regional demands. 🌍 The importance of methodical, multifunctional cooperation to innovate swiftly was a standout point, showcasing Nestlé’s commitment to rapid prototyping and testing to meet sustainability goals.
Followed by Marie Fukuura, Commercial Controller, Off-Trade, Premium Retail at Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I. Marie outlined a simple yet powerful strategy to lead and grow the category, digitize and monetize the ecosystem, and optimize the business. 🌱📈 Despite challenges like lockdowns, shortages, and inflation, Marie highlighted how intensive research drives value and shapes portfolio priorities. Budweiser's commitment to safety, inclusivity, and sustainability was particularly inspiring, demonstrating how the brand continues to thrive in a dynamic market. 🍻
