Yasmine Lahlou will act as mock arbitrator in New York Arbitration Week panel “Obtaining Evidence from Non-parties to an International Arbitration in a Post Section 1782 World.” Using two mock applications to take evidence under Section 7 of the Federal Arbitration Act, the program will explore the possibilities that Section 7 provides to parties to obtain evidence from non-parties in U.S. seated and foreign-seated arbitrations, explore the issues as they might be presented to arbitral tribunals and also to a judge who may be asked to enforce an arbitral subpoena issued under Section 7. What are the current trends in dispute resolution in Germany? According to Sven Lange courts are highly efficient, often resolving first-instance cases in less than a year. While many commercial disputes are handled in court, arbitration is often chosen for post-M&A and international disputes. The German Arbitration Institute (DIS) is popular for domestic cases. However, the SCC enjoys a robust reputation and is frequently selected for international disputes, showcasing a growing reliance on international arbitration institutions.
