With young people being celebrated globally as part of the United Nations World Youth Skills Day, APM Terminals is adding its voice – and resources – to the development of the next generation and to the emerging talents of tomorrow’s professionals. While APM Terminals provide many scholarship opportunities globally, and create training and development opportunities for many communities, it’s the individual stories that touch us the most. When APM Terminals Liberia announced it would provide scholarship funds to 120 students from six primary and secondary schools within Districts 13 and 14 of Montserrado County, it made many more than the students themselves happy. The activation, the fourth scholarship scheme organized by the terminal, wasn’t a ‘one-off’ gift. It was an investment in the future of entire communities, and it came from the heart. Just as all the work we do in the countries in which we operate are investments in progress, growth and toward improving lives for all. At the official presentation of scholarships last month, Saidu Kawah, a 6th Grader and a scholarship recipient said: “I am so happy to be a beneficiary of the APM Terminals Liberia scholarship because it will help me achieve my goals. I want to become a Medical Doctor so that I can help sick people feel better. With this scholarship, I will be able to stay in school and learn all the things I need to know to reach my dream. It makes me feel happy and confident to know that people believe in me and want to help me succeed.” This event brought together the APM Terminals Liberia team, scholarship students, parents, school administrators, and representatives from both districts in the vicinity of the Monrovia terminal. It was proof – and only one example – of our belief in the transformative power of education and our commitment to lift the standards of responsibility in our host nations. Our teams are proud to support the academic endeavors of brilliant young minds. #EducationForAll #CommunityEngagement #wysd #CorporateSustainability #APMTerminalsLiberia #ScholarshipProgramClay

One of the great things of being employed in the maritime industry was the exposure to people and cultures from across the world. And companies such as the A.P. Moller-Maersk organization have and continue to be companies that utilize the knowledge and experience of people from all backgrounds and cultures to create a successful worldwide enterprise. Providing scholarships in countries such as Liberia and throughout the world, APM Terminals demonstrates its commitment to building a more integrated world.
