Recruitment Marketing Manager | Content Creator | Book Designer | Motion Designer

Count me among the happy workers who switched jobs in 2021! I was happy at GlockStore, but so many of my skills were underused, and with the company moving headquarters to Tennessee, I felt that it was only a matter of time before my graphic design role in San Diego moved there, too. Now I'm a Program Coordinator at the San Diego County Sheriff's Department getting paid twice what I did before and using so much more of my skillset — writing, editing, graphic design, web design, motion design, social media management, content creation, video editing, and more. I also have much better benefits, retirement plans, paid days off, training, etc. I even get tuition reimbursement, of which I decided to make good use this year. In fact, I went back to school and enrolled in a certificate program at the University of Phoenix. I'm currently in my third week of my first course in #marketing to help me in my role, which is essentially in recruitment marketing and employer branding. I'm determined to continue learning and growing my skillset, as that's where I'm happiest. After reading Brené Brown's Dare To Lead, I whittled my List of Values down to Joy and Learning. So any job that allows me to have fun doing what I love and learn something new on the way (all while paying me really well, of course) is exactly my kind of job. #writing #editing #videoediting #help #design #graphicdesign #branding #socialmedia #webdesign #management #job #learning #tuition #school #training #jobs #recruitment #love #content #university

Reporter at The Wall Street Journal

Remember all that quitting that happened in 2021 and 2022? One positive effect of the churning pandemic job market is that workers are more satisfied with their jobs now than they've been in decades, according to new data from The Conference Board. US workers re-evaluated their priorities, jumped to better-paying jobs, found work that fit their skills and preferences better, or saw their wages and/or flexibility increase at their current jobs, thanks in part to a tight labor market. In 2022, 62.3% of workers said they were satisfied with their jobs, the highest since the Conference Board started measuring this in 1987. Of the 26 aspects of work measured, the biggest increases were in work-life balance and workload. Who's happiest? Hybrid workers and people who switched jobs during the pandemic. And men. Women were less satisfied than men on all 26 components, including leave policies, bonus and promotion plans, and organizational communication and culture. Are you satisfied with your job? What works for you and what doesn't? And thanks to Naveen Radhakrishna and Kathryn M. Bolz for sharing their stories with me. https://lnkd.in/eZNcBFnd
