This recent survey on breast cancer patient experience by Loxo@Lilly, Ipsos, and Living Beyond Breast Cancer struck a chord with me having watched my own mother during her cancer treatment. The authors discuss the concept of “time toxicity” - the significant time spent on treatments, travel, and recovery and how this total experience affects their personal lives. Time toxicity significantly impacts even retired patients like my mom, yet younger women with careers and young children also find themselves having to navigate these exhausting treatment schedules. One aspect of the care journey that can be improved is increasing the availability of IV to oral-conversion options for oncology patients.
