On October 11, SEMI Southeast Asia, in collaboration with SEMI Energy Collaborative (EC) and the Asia Clean Energy Coalition (ACEC), hosted a roundtable in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event brought together PETRA (Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air), Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission), Jabatan Single Buyer, and key stakeholders from the semiconductor ecosystem to explore the path forward for corporate clean energy procurement. With Malaysia’s renewable energy potential, collaboration is essential for accelerating clean energy adoption. The discussions centered around: - Diversifying Procurement Options: Expanding the range of renewable energy procurement mechanisms for greater flexibility. - Addressing Cost Concerns: Ensuring the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) is cost-effective and transparent. - Enhancing Long-Term Pricing Clarity: Providing clearer projections to support corporations in making long-term clean energy procurement decisions. This roundtable is part of a series across Asia, following Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore, with the collective goal of driving a sustainable energy future for the semiconductor industry. Indonesia is marching ahead to accelerate achieving its net zero target (by 2060), and would require significant transition in the country’s infrastructure, workforce dynamics and resource utilization. The process would entail creating new jobs and talent pool that can spearhead the energy transition forward.   To support the Government in human capital development, GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions business and Indonesia’s national utility PT PLN (Persero) signed a MoU to collaborate on developing expertise and capabilities around grid technology in the power sector. The two entities will roll out training programs, seminars and conferences on Smart Grid, Control Systems, Flexible AC Transmission Systems, #Power Systems Transformation, and Interconnection #Technology such as #HVDC, to further equip the workforce on advanced grid technology and systems. The MoU was signed by Yusuf Didi Setiarto, Director of Legal & Human Capital Management of PT PLN (Persero) and Joko Prakoso as President Director of PT Grid Solutions Indonesia during a ceremony held recently.   At GE Vernova, we have a strong focus to empower the new generation workforce with best-in-class training and practical knowledge, helping them to innovate and resolve the challenges in the power sector while contributing towards decarbonization and electrification of the energy systems.  #PoweringAsia #PoweringIndonesia

#BESS company AESI announces plans for a new factory in #Malaysia and forms new partnerships US grid-scale battery energy storage systems (#BESS) provider American Energy Storage Innovations, Inc. (#AESI) on Wednesday announced plans for a new manufacturing facility in #Malaysia along with new partnerships, inducing an expanded #cells supply deal with a Chinese firm and an over 1.5-GW BESS delivery pact in the UK. The planned manufacturing site in #Malaysia is expected to be opened by the fourth quarter of 2025, the company said in a press statement without providing further details. #AESI noted that the decision factors in the additional tariffs on material sourced from China and the lack of a committed supply chain for a 100% US-manufactured #BESS. “This option guarantees AESI customers will enjoy the best value at the best cost,” said CEO Bud Collins. #partnership #BESS #energystorage #cell #renewableenergy #battery #cleanenergy #AESI #Malaysia https://lnkd.in/gXVCPpR9

“Vietnam is undergoing an energy transition to meet it’s net-zero target by 2050. This would need significant industry collaborations to drive innovations, policy interventions and constant dialogue among the key industry leaders to evaluate the progress.   Eugenio G. (Sales Leader - ASEAN, Power Conversion, GE Vernova) recently led strategic discussions as part of the ‘US-Vietnam Getting to Net Zero’ workshop that was organized by U.S. Commercial Service Vietnam in Hai Phong City and Binh Duong Province. The discussions centered around clean energy technologies that support Vietnam’s sustainable development in the manufacturing industry, showcasing energy efficiency technologies and decarbonization solutions. The conversations with industry leaders and decision makers during the sessions specifically revolved around ‘maximizing energy efficiency through planning, designing, and implementing of energy storage, infrastructure, co-generation and inter-connection’ highlighting the relevance of micro-grids.
