World Stroke Day: Supporting Life After Stroke On World Stroke Day, we highlight the importance of not just recognizing strokes early but also understanding the recovery journey that follows. Stroke survivors face various challenges that require ongoing support and specialized care. Key Recovery Areas Mobility: Many survivors experience reduced movement and may need assistive devices for daily activities. Communication: Speech therapy is essential for those relearning language skills. Cognition: Cognitive support helps improve memory and problem-solving abilities. Emotional Health: Emotional and psychological support is crucial for adapting to life after a stroke. Innovative Solutions At Ceumed Medical Devices, we are dedicated to providing products that enhance mobility, comfort, and overall recovery for stroke patients. Our solutions are designed to support long-term care needs. Moving Forward Together Let’s prioritize the ongoing support and rehabilitation of stroke survivors. Cases of traumatic cardiac arrest are complex, and victims rarely survive. For their part, responders have to stay up-to-date on new and emerging trends in trauma resuscitation that might help their patients — or ideally prevent patients from going into arrest at all. That’s why we’re covering resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta, or REBOA, in our most recent blog article. Head to the link in comments ⬇️⬇️ to learn what REBOA is, how it might be used in trauma cases, and what it would take to expand the use of REBOA in the United States. #criticalcare #patientsafety #traumacare #ACLS #ems

🔍 Enhancing ALS with eFAST: A Vital Tool in Trauma Care🔍 In critical care scenarios, speed and accuracy can be life-saving. The eFAST (Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma) exam has become a powerful tool in the Advanced Life Support (ALS) protocol, offering rapid, non-invasive evaluation of trauma patients. 🔍eFAST allows clinicians to quickly identify: ✔️ Free fluid in the peritoneal, pleural, or pericardial cavities ✔️ Pneumothorax or hemothorax ✔️ Pulmonary abnormalities 🔍By integrating eFAST into ALS, we can: ➡️ Make critical decisions more efficiently ➡️ Guide interventions like chest decompression or fluid resuscitation ➡️ Monitor changes dynamically during ongoing resuscitation efforts As technology continues to evolve, incorporating point-of-care ultrasound in emergency settings is essential for improving patient outcomes. 🔗 What are your experiences with eFAST in trauma care? #TraumaCare #eFAST #ALS #EmergencyMedicine #CriticalCare #POCUS #Ultrasound #HealthcareInnovation

The ASGBI Trauma Committee Position Statement on “The National Audit of Trauma Laparotomy in the UK – an Unmet Need” is now published in the BJA: https://lnkd.in/dsKAvmqC Trauma patients who undergo laparotomy are amongst the most critically ill patients to undergo laparotomy, with mortality rates up to 50% in those presenting with hypotension. Trauma patients are currently excluded from national laparotomy audit databases in the UK. We argue there is an urgent unmet need to establish a process of continuous audit for these patients, and discuss some of the challenges and potential solutions to address this.

Last week Abbott Point of Care were proud to support the Royal College of Emergency Medicine #RCEMasc in Gateshead. We had lots of interesting and great conversations around our solutions particularly about our i-STAT TBI Cartridge. Each year, over 1 million people attend emergency departments in England and Wales with a recent head injury. Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) can have a profound impact on patients and their families, timely and accurate assessment is crucial. This innovative tool offers dual brain-specific biomarkers GFAP and UCH-L1. Objective Assessment: Quickly identify mild TBI with a 96.5% negative predictive value. Efficiency: Obtain results in just 15 minutes, reducing unnecessary CT scans by up to 40%. Reliability: A 24-hour testing window ensures accurate detection of intracranial lesions. #abbottproud #mildtraumaticbraininjury #mTBI
