It has been an insightful week in #Düsseldorf Distribution Center! Highly automated and with a capacity of around 185.000 pallets, it currently hosts more than 1.300 #HCB SKUs. Thanks to the #collaboration with the #3PL CRETSCHMAR, it serves mainly DE/BENELUX and Export Customers. 🙏 @Oliver Wittig and Sven Eichhorn for the effective teamwork and willingness to improve. 🙏 Liliana Veseliu and Jordi Pradas for being the pillars of the #LogisticsOE program. 🙏 Marco Stella for bringing in the #Purchasing perspective for the first time since this program was launched in May 2023. 🚀 lot more to come #ASPIRE #OperationalExcellence #Logistics #Transformation

Shortly after announcing the completion of the Wincanton acquisition (subject to CMA approval) they announce what must be one of the biggest 3PL deals... ever! 👖 A 20 (TWENTY!) year deal to operate the Levi Strauss & Co. European Distribution Centre in Germany This level of cooperation and long term thinking has allowed two things to happen: 💚 The build of one of the greenest and safest warehouses in Europe with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and WELL Health-Safety certification. 🤖 A fully automated site including areas where the technology is more nascent (such as automatic carton opening, closing and labelling) Wincanton have laudably won some recent new contracts and extensions including IKEA, Dobbies and Fentimans. However, the scale of what they're about to be absorbed in to is startling. How do smaller 3PLs compete when businesses do well to have contracted volume at all, let alone 20 years?
