Since the 1980s, long-term survival rates for people with pulmonary hypertension have improved significantly, surpassing the previous average of 2.8 years. This improvement is largely due to advancements in research, treatment and care, increased awareness, and the support of patient associations. Specialized PH care centers also play a critical role in providing comprehensive care and improving patient outcomes. #AriaCV is proud to play a role in researching treatment options that give hope to those affected by PH. #WorldPHDay2024

"Thoracic Duct–Venous Junction Obstruction as Unknown Cause of Abdominal Pain: Diagnosis and Treatment" from the University of Pennsylvania Health System. This study focuses on patients (like myself) experiencing abdominal pain and bloating due to thoracic duct-venous junction obstruction. It shows how decompression of this junction significantly improved symptoms. This highlights the importance of considering the lymphatic system in diagnosing abdominal pain. For therapists and patients, recognizing central lymphatic dysfunction is vital. This knowledge can lead to innovative treatments, enhancing our journey towards better health. #LymphedemaAwareness #ThoracicDuctHealth #LymphaticHealth

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) leads to narrowing or blockage of the arteries in the lower limbs, causing leg pain and disability. While treatments like medication and exercise are common, some patients need revascularisation. This #CochraneReview examines whether adding supervised exercise therapy after revascularisation provides more significant improvements in physical function and quality of life compared to each treatment alone. #Blogshot: "Effect of additional exercise therapy after a successful vascular intervention for people with symptomatic peripheral arterial disease." The objectives of the review are to assess the effects of a supervised exercise programme versus standard care following successful lower limb revascularisation in people with #PAD. 📖 Blogshot here: https://buff.ly/4ctQVYK 📚 Read the full review in the Cochrane Library: https://buff.ly/3wgHNaK #CochraneRehab #rehabilitation

Nephrologist Ladan Golestaneh's research reveals the challenges in managing chronic kidney disease. Patients often resort to dialysis due to limited access to medical care, leading to early dialysis initiation. Golestaneh advocates for incentivizing health systems to prioritize pre-dialysis care, aiming to postpone the need for dialysis and improve patient outcomes.

Continue readinghttps://lnkd.in/geyuVnND

A quick search online reveals that, at least anecdotally, many patients behind their screens are suffering from symptoms resembling angina and anginal equivalents but feel that they are not being given serious attention as patients and thus suffer additionally from a lack of diagnosis (which then equates to a lack of treatment). Clinicians are only just now realizing how prevalent ischemia without any obstructed coronary arteries (INOCA) really is, but clinical practice continues to lag far behind with only a handful of institutions offering the ability to interrogate the microvasculature to get a "complete" picture of patient heart health. Worse still, almost all of our traditional non-invasive frontline tests are notoriously difficult to use consistently for diagnosing CMD at the beginning of a patient's care journey. Hear directly from CMD patients on our testimonials page: https://lnkd.in/gYbKd_3R

#HeadacheHighlights Plain Language Summary: “In this open-label study, we looked at the effects of eptinezumab in a subset of patients with chronic migraine and medication-overuse headache (MOH). Our results showed that after 2 years of treatment with eptinezumab, these patients reported that their headache days had decreased by more than half, their headaches were less severe, and that headaches interfered much less with their lives. Eptinezumab preventive therapy in patients with chronic migraine showed benefits for the group of patients with MOH.” View the full Headache Journal (Headache: The Journal of Head & Face Pain) study here: bit.ly/3SBuHNl

Hematuria, the presence of blood in urine, can be a concerning symptom. Understanding the Hematuria Scale is essential for recognizing its severity and guiding further evaluation. Mild Hematuria: Minimal blood detected, often not visible to the naked eye. This may indicate minor issues that typically require monitoring. Moderate Hematuria: Noticeable blood is present and potentially visible. This level often prompts further investigation to uncover underlying causes, such as infections or kidney stones. Severe Hematuria: Significant blood in urine, clearly visible. This usually necessitates immediate medical evaluation to rule out severe conditions, including urinary tract cancers or significant kidney problems. Recognizing hematuria is crucial for timely diagnosis and treatment. If you observe any signs of blood in your urine, we encourage you to seek guidance from a healthcare provider. Your kidney health is important to us, and we are here to support you on your journey to better health. #Hematuria #KidneyHealth #FloridaKidneyPhysicians #PatientCare #UrologyAwareness
