I am incredibly proud to be part of a team that has not only innovated but truly redefined how Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) is delivered. At TARA Mind, our clinical team has drawn on decades of experience to build a program that prioritizes safety, efficacy, and seamless care delivery for clients facing complex conditions like TRD. What stands out most is how we’ve woven clinical excellence with cutting-edge technology, allowing us to offer the most comprehensive and collaborative IV KAT program available today. It's been an honor to contribute to a model of care that raises the bar for safe and effective treatment while supporting meaningful outcomes for clients. Truly this design is so elegant, while also being profoundly personalized to ensure very best care for clients and an easeful administrative lift for therapists and prescribers alike. Grateful to be part of this incredible journey, ensuring that those in need of advanced mental health care receive not just treatment, but the highest level of support and expertise available. #KetamineTherapy #MentalHealthInnovation #TreatmentResistantDepression #TRDCare #KetamineAssistedTherapy #InnovativeCare #MentalHealthSolutions #Psychotherapy #ClinicalExcellence #MentalHealthSupport #TARAMind #AdvancedMentalHealth #CollaborativeCare #SafeTherapy #CuttingEdgeTherapy #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceMentalHealth #HRSolutions #CorporateWellness #EmployeeSupport #MentalHealthInTheWorkplace #HRInnovation #ConsultantLife #WorkplaceHealth #EmployerBenefits #HRConsulting #ConsultingServices #HumanResources #EmployeeCare #EmployerSolutions
An Official Statement from TARA Mind Chief Medical Officer Richard Nockowitz, M.D. “Simply put, TARA Mind has created the most responsible and affordable access to the safest and most personalized delivery of IV Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) available for individuals whose mental health conditions do not improve with traditional treatments. Recently, there’s been inaccurate information circulating about IV-Ketamine Assisted Therapy, creating misperceptions about the safety and benefit of this treatment when delivered responsibly. In fact, decades of real-world experience with thousands of patients treated at the most prestigious academic medical centers and treatment facilities has shown that this therapy is extraordinarily safe, life-changing, and even life-saving. Like any other medical treatment, IV Ketamine-Assisted Therapy should always be delivered in a monitored medical setting by trained, licensed clinicians. When done this way, it is unquestionably safer and more effective for depression, suicidality, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and even substance use disorders, than other currently available treatments. We have a collective responsibility to differentiate between the medically-supervised administration of this highly beneficial treatment and its unfortunate misuse without responsible medical supervision.” #TARAMind #MentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #HR #WorkplaceWellness

This National Interprofessional Healthcare Month, I want to shine a light on the complexities in patient care and healthcare delivery that make interprofessional education and teamwork an absolute necessity. Since 2018, I've been working with the incredible artist George Folz and dozens of colleagues to tell compelling, illustrated stories that underscore the value of team-based care to improve patient and population health outcomes. Each of these illustrations is, as the saying goes, worth a thousand words. This one comes from my book, Interprofessional Practice in Pharmacy, published in 2021 by McGraw-Hill. "GASPING: An Illustrated Case Study" tells the story of a patient struggling with opioid addiction and the physiological changes over time that can increase the risk of overdose. Kudos to my friend and co-author of this case, Cody Wenthur, whose depth of knowledge and experience in this area truly elevated the story. I'm sure my IPE colleagues around the world will be able to work backwards from the tragic ending depicted here to identify numerous points of intervention where effective interprofessional collaboration would have altered the storyline. From: Wenthur CJ, Gallimore CE, Zorek JA. Chapter 12: Mental Health. In: Zorek JA. Interprofessional Practice in Pharmacy: Featuring Illustrated Case Studies. New York, NY: McGraw-Hill; 2021:255-274.

Allied health professionals are a group of health care providers whose role and expertise complement the work of physicians. They are specialists such as physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, nutritionists, and many more. For a person with Parkinson's disease (PD), they are just as important as movement disorders specialists and neurologists, and they help create a comprehensive, well-rounded Parkinson’s care team that caters to individual needs and addresses overall well-being. In this first episode of our Allied Health Spotlight series, we explore the benefits of including physical therapy in one's care plan. Exercise is a vital component for people with PD to maintain balance, mobility, and activities of daily living, so it should be part of the standard practice of care for every person with PD. Plus, research has shown that exercise is the only intervention with the potential to slow progression of the disease. In this episode, Physical Therapist Patricia Brown, PT, DPT, NCS of Chapman University in California, who specializes in neurologic diseases, discusses some considerations for exercising safely, taking into account the particular needs of people with PD. She also talks about how to get and stay motivated to exercise and where to find classes or programs. See: https://lnkd.in/ejq3teN5

Embracing holistic health, psychologists are joining care teams. In 2023, 86% of psychologists worked with other types of medical professionals. Done working in vacuums, practitioners are consulting across disciplines to connect dots between mental and physical symptoms. It’s a game changer for patients with chronic pain, obesity, cancer and other illnesses — helping them address mental barriers to coping and healing. At present, psychiatrists are psychologists’ most common partners. But, as food-as-medicine goes mainstream, expect more crossover with primary care physicians and dietitians.

Personal trauma, and how to respond when it sticks its ugly head in professional settings, is a loaded question that no one wants to deal with. Some behaviors show how grossly unprepared colleagues or higher officials are in handling a potentially alarming situation. These circumstances are often not handled very well, and I'd like to share how I wished my breakdown at work (years ago) was dealt with. In case you come across a co-worker or stranger who looks like they are panicked, distressed, or terrified and hyperventilating, even if you don't understand why. Please do not touch them, you may instead remain calm and talk to them to see if they are aware and responsive. Do not comment about how unprofessional they are being, or that they need to be taken away because it may appear to clients that they are being abused. They are aware it's unprofessional, and already embarrassed about it. You may instead ask if they need assistance reaching a restroom or private area until the panic/anxiety attack passes. If the co-worker is having difficulties regulating, DO NOT be impatient with them during this process. Do ask if they can name 5 objects around them that are blue; 4 things they can feel; 3 things they hear; 2 things they can smell; and one thing they can taste. This process can typically help ground them into their immediate surroundings. These experiences are just as uncomfortable for the individual experiencing a breakdown as it can be for someone witnessing it. Of course, I'm not excusing public tantrums that some individuals use for attention, this is specific for people who struggle with various medical or psychological challenges. To conclude, be kind even if you don't understand. I hope this helps bring some clarity about responding differently to someone in distress in the workplace. Grewal and colleagues investigated the challenges in healthcare services for individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI) in British Columbia, Canada, especially those dealing with mental health and substance use disorders. Based on input from 90 participants, including people with ABI, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, the study identified key barriers such as a lack of public awareness, stigma surrounding ABI and fragmented healthcare services. The complexity of ABI often results in unmet basic needs like financial support, housing, and specialized care. Participants stressed the importance of integrated care, as well as community-based support systems like peer networks and interdisciplinary teams to assist in daily living and long-term recovery. They also highlighted the difficulty of navigating a scattered healthcare system and the need for improved access to specialized services. The authors called for increased public education, better training for healthcare professionals and enhanced funding to address the gaps in care and improve the quality of life for people with ABI. #BrainInjury #HealthcareChallenges #MentalHealth #IntegratedCare #PatientSupport #HealthcareInnovation
