https://lnkd.in/eUbX7DTh Loved the Opportunity Zone insight that David Sillaman spoke about on Making Billions with Ryan Miller Ryan Miller, MFin. Our team had looked at these before when we first learned about them from watching the show Billions with Bobby Axlerod (damian lewis) lol. And now we got real actionable info from this podcast which is awesome. In fact, we just joined the Opportunity Zone club today and we're more than likely going to make one of these plays eventually. #opportunityzone #capitalraise #privateequity #realestate #investmentfund #investing #teamwork #wealth

It is worth listening to Arvin Khanchandani about the future of investing in the CEE market and our ( Warsaw Equity Group) new strategy, including climate tech companies. #privateequity #investing #cee #climatetech
❓ Why and how have we at Warsaw Equity Group changed our investment strategy - or in some respects, returned to our Private Equity routes? ❓ Why are ClimateTech investments one of our main focus areas? ❓ And what journey brought our Investment Manager, Arvin Khanchandani, to WEG, and why does ClimateTech specifically make him tick? You'll find the answers to these questions and more in this #VCintheCEE podcast that Arvin recorded with Adrian Kondrat. 👂 It's a great listen - enjoy! #privateequity #investing #cee #climatetech https://lnkd.in/gg9W-eer

*Making Billions*. In one episode, Salvatore Buscemi from Brahmin Partners emphasized the importance of adding value to your network. It's not just about seeking investors; it's about fostering meaningful relationships with people who truly understand and support you. We've all encountered those individuals who are purely transactional, only focused on asking for money without building any real connection. It's unrealistic to expect someone to invest significant amounts when you’re not even willing to invest in the relationship. The takeaway? Treat your network with the same care and respect as your closest friends. Be genuine, helpful, and invested in others. When you prove yourself trustworthy, that's when the real opportunities start flowing. #Relationshipbuilding #InvestingWisely #NetworkingTips
https://lnkd.in/dG6YyBbU It's been great to have a bit of time to catch up on my friend and mentor's podcast Ryan Miller, MFin. and the Making Billions with Ryan Miller Man, Salvatore Buscemi from Brahmin Partners really nailed it when he talked about the power of giving value to your network. It's not just about chasing investors – it's about building a crew of awesome people who get you, you know? We've been running into these folks lately who are totally out of touch. They're all about "gimme money" without even trying to build a connection. Like, seriously? You want someone to drop $250k on your idea when you won't even put your own skin in the game? Come on. Here's the real deal: treat your relationships and rep like gold. When you introduce people in your network, do it like you're setting up your best friend on a date. Be real, be helpful, and actually care. Trust me, that stuff pays off big time in the long run. Continue to build and broker relationships all starting with proving that you're worthy of the investor's trust! #relationships #business #raisingcapital #funds #funding #value #reputation #startup #sales #marketing

Charles Hudson is hands-down one of the sharpest minds in early-stage investing. As the Founder and Managing Partner at Precursor Ventures, Charles has backed over 375 companies and supported more than 400 founders. → His portfolio includes hits like Clearco, Juniper Square, and Carrot → He's helped founders raise over $175 million across four funds → He's an active leader in the VC community, serving as the 2023-2024 Chair of the NVCA Board of Directors But even with all of his successes and accolades, what really sets Charles apart is his founder-first philosophy. He's not looking for "coachable" founders who hang on his every word. He wants founders who are decisive, independent thinkers. He believes his job is to give founders what they need, not impose his own agenda. Charles is the kind of investor every founder wants in their corner. One who shows up, follows through, and builds genuine relationships over time. And on this week’s episode of Minimum Viable Podcast, he's sharing his insights on what makes for a truly productive founder-investor partnership. Founders, this is a conversation you’ll want to hear. — What's the #1 quality you look for in an investor? Tune in to the full episode when it drops this Wednesday to hear much more from Charles and learn how to make the most of your investor relationships.

Podcast Recommendation Time!! 🎧 The Podcast market is highly saturated right now, and it's hard to find a good one among the ocean of episodes on YouTube and Spotify. But I have yet to see a more explosively educative and star-studded ⭐ pallet of people than what Nikhil Kamath brings on each episode of the WTF podcast. Host Nikhil Kamath (who initially rose to fame as a co-founder of Zerodha, one of India's largest Online Stock Brokers) brings a unique perspective on topics ranging from capitalism, venture funding, influencer marketing and even how to run restaurants! Every episode is packed with nuggets of wisdom that will leave you thinking long after the episode ends💡And it's not just about what one person brings to the conversation, what's even more fascinating is seeing what topics resonate with the whole panel, and also seeing what the sharpest minds of any industry disagree on, all packed up in a nice 3-hour long package 📦. In particular, the first podcast I watched was related to #venturecapital. Nikhil shares his thoughts on the impact of capitalism and recognizes its flaws, but also believes that it is still the best system available. The panel comprising Karthik B. Reddy, Nithin Kamath, Rajan Anandan and Prashanth Prakash truly represented the OGs of Venture Capital in India, and how there is a whole ecosystem and pecking order behind the machinery which powers almost every start-up in India today. If you are young and want to challenge and grow your mind, grab your headphones and get ready to learn! 📚 Podcast Link: https://lnkd.in/gd6RYqn7

I help venture backed founders scale with my team of CFOs | Over $500m in exits and funding | Bootstrapped EmergeOne to >$1m going for growth | Host of Nothing Ventured - learn from VCs, Angels, Founders and Operators
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗙𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 📈 In this week's episode of Nothing Ventured, I sat down with Alokik Advani, Managing Partner at Fidelity International Strategic Ventures, building and investing in fintech businesses and technologies that are strategic to Fidelity International. Alokik’s career has spanned over two decades in finance setting up a strategic investment unit for Merrill Lynch in Europe after which he spent a decade building out Goldman Sach’s Strategic Investments team and practice in Hong Kong before joining VC firm Eight Roads as the MD for Fintech Strategic Investments. We spoke about: 🤑 Whether corporate ventures only provide the dumb money and over pay? 👩🏾💼 Strategic investors are now involved in 20% of deals or more. 📉 Why you shouldn't dread the downround ⏳ How startups can outlast the 10 year fund structure. 💸 Why if it isn’t easy to realise returns, everything slows down. 🤯 The mindset shift required to becoming the $100m ARR company rather than the $1bn company. 🐢 Alokik’s contrarian advice - Slow down and take your time sometimes. The Startup Playbook Podcast has a very special guest this week! Our Partner, Taryn Pieterse, sat down to chat with Rohit Bhargava on how and when to fundraise effectively. The full episode covers a range of topics, including: - How exposure to Campaign Monitors $250M funding round shaped her interest in tech and startups - Rampersand's AAA approach to investing and supporting startups - How to think about financial modelling as an early-stage startup Check it out! 🎙 🎙 🎙 & much more
Thank you to Rohit Bhargava and The Startup Playbook Podcast for having me on the podcast! I started my career in Investment Banking and had the opportunity to work closely with the Campaign Monitor founders on its $250m capital raise. This sparked my love for working with founders to tell their stories and why I made my way into VC with Rampersand. Whilst there was a few things from banking I had to unlearn - I'm grateful for the early focus on doing the simple things rights which has earnt me the reputation of being a "safe pair of hands" and helps build founder trust and relationships Rohit and I chatted abit more about - Rampersand's AAA approach to investing and supporting startups, when to approach VC's and how to think about financial modelling as an early stage startup. Episode link in the comments.
