Damon Daniel, President of Impact 100 organization AdHoc Group Against Crime, has noticed a shift in traditional nonprofit funding towards trust-based philanthropy. But gaps still exist when it comes to Black-led organizations seeking funding. We met with five Black nonprofit leaders to discuss the challenges they have experienced growing their organizations and securing funding. Over 1,000 organisations have been through our programme since 2020 Only 13% of those organisations have ever donated to support our mission. Is there such thing as free time? 🌅 My friend and former board president of Search to Involve Pilipino Americans, Edward Malicdem, had a chance to catch up today. Ed served as board president of the non-profit organization for many years. At the end of 2023 his term ended and so I asked the question: What do you do with your downtime? Ed runs the Pasadena office of Merrill Lynch. He has a big job, but he always makes the time to serve the community. This was the first time in a long time that we didn’t talk board “stuff” and just caught up on the family, worldly events and talked shop about the market.
