I AM TIRED! I AM FRUSTRATED! I AM DONE! These were the last things I said before finally giving up on myself when I was only 13 years old. At that young age, I decided to completely change who I was after receiving numerous complaints about my rudeness, disrespectfulness, and foul mouth. I decided I was done with having such negative reviews about my personality and resolved to become a different person to fit the mold of what people believed an ideal 13-year-old should be. However, little did I know that this decision would change my life forever. Once I decided to change, I withdrew from others to avoid saying things that would make people call me “disrespectful.” I lost friends, was bullied at my dad’s school, and, most significantly, lost confidence in myself. I can’t pinpoint exactly when my low self-esteem began, but I found myself not believing in my abilities. I was always scared when asked to do something because I feared I would fail. I never believed people when they called me smart. This is my own story. The Diary of Her is a community dedicated to providing immediate support and resources for women to cultivate self-confidence and empower themselves. It offers a platform for women to connect, share experiences, and uplift each other through encouragement, inspiration, and practical advice. The focus is on taking action in the present moment to create positive change and foster personal growth. This week I went along to the Women In Business networking meet at the Herb. I’ve been having a tough time recently and I haven’t really felt like doing anything to be quite honest, I’ve really been having to push myself to keep going. But I really look forward to this every month so I went along regardless. This months topic was connection. Which is a big thing to me, particularly when talking about parenting. It’s one of my biggest parenting values and I think it’s one of the most important things as a parent. As always the conversations we had, had me furiously typing notes on my phone to take away and think about. But I had one epiphany moment and that was why, when I can be full of ideas, easily creating content and doing my thing, I suddenly falter and that energy, motivation and drive vanishes into thin air. It’s because of connection and how much I need this to feel motivated. So often for a while now I’ve felt like I’m just shouting into an echo chamber when I’m sharing content. I look for gaps of what’s needed for parents, I listen to parents and try to offer what they need or want, I share information, open up space for conversations and discussions and get. absolutely. (Or very nearly) zero. interaction. Zero connection. But that connection is what keeps me pushing forward. Without it, everything just feels abit pointless. And now thinking about it, this isn’t just happening in business. It’s happening in my personal life too. Going for weeks at a time without speaking to some friends, or seeing some friends. Everyone too busy. Family too busy too. We’re all so disconnected; from life and from each other. My thoughts are now what do I need to work on to move forward; Creating those connections or why do I need that connection?

It's Monday morning and I am bursting with JOY ✨ I have always thought of myself as a connector and community-builder. Over the years, I have built a network filled with particularly badass women. I've found these women through my jobs, grad school, and shamelessly sliding into people's DMs here on LinkedIn. At the end of 2023, I realized there is little that would bring me more joy than hosting a gathering to bring all these women together. So, that's what I've done. I hosted the first one in October (there is no photographic evidence, but I promise you, it was MAGIC). Yesterday, I hosted 8 incredible women right here in my living room. My intention for the gathering was to make it EASY for everyone. I asked people to show up in their sweatpants, to bring their favorite tea or warm beverage, and come ready to share something they are releasing in 2024. The etymology of the word "resolution" is "to release." I find that far too often, we are encouraged to take on MORE at the beginning of the year. But really, we are being called to release, to let go, to set down the things that haven't been serving us. Yesterday afternoon, we sat in circle. We drank hot chocolate. We shared what we are letting go off, and we marked that release by accepting a beautiful sunflower. A sign of spring, of new beginnings. Here's are some of my biggest takeaways from the afternoon: ⭐️ Hosting an intentional gathering doesn't have to be a BIG lift. Ask people to come ready to share on a specific theme, and let it flow naturally from there.  ⭐️ Ritual is a vital part of gathering. My friend Michelle brought sunflowers to give to each person as they shared what they were releasing and it made the experience even more expansive.  ⭐️ We (especially women) are all trying to release the same things at the end of the day. We just find different ways to describe it. But, it seems to boil down to releasing the rules, self-doubt, other people’s expectations, the idea that there’s something we “should” be doing, and the idea that we need anything outside of ourselves to truly connect with those around us. #womenentrepreneurs #womenchangemakers #networking #femaleempowerment #femaleleadership

You can create community around something OR you can change it, but you can't do both Think about the five people closest to you. How often when you all get together over a glass of wine, are there conversations about: 😩 How being a professional parent just means waking up to run a marathon everyday and falling into bed just to do it all again tomorrow 😩How HARD life is in this season 😩 How "behind" you feel in life Without any solutions, or strategies being shared. Now, I love releasing a little steam complaining (particularly while texting a friend when its an hour past my kid's bedtime and they're still bouncing off the walls!) but there are two different kinds of venting or sharing struggles. 1. To create community 2. To create change The truth is that too many professional women, and especially professional moms, create community around overwhelm, around "hot mess" motherhood, around feeling like door mats because THEY DON'T BELIEVE THEY CAN CHANGE IT. And so instead share their struggles to create community around being stuck The women who join the Unapologetic Living Code do the latter. They bring their challenges to calls to share AND develop the skills and frameworks they need to move through them. So how do you go from #1 to #2? Learn how to sink into the belief that change is possible, and putt yourself in spaces that will make it inevitable

I have been feeling a change with social media. And yet this is where we normally go to build business, especially when we’re building a new business. And at this point in my journey, I’m asking to do it differeny. So for a time, I will be getting off of social media With that being said, I do have a group starting March 19the for those women who are ready to up-level their lives. I know all too well, the image of our body, and the connection with it, will hinder our connections with so many things. With how we engage with people, the way that we connect, to the way that we are seen and allow ourselves to be seen. I have seen time and time again how this program greatly impacts and changes the lives of the women who choose to step in.
