This #BlackHistoryMonth, we celebrate and honor the lives of Black and African American people and Black Canadians, past and present, whose contributions have helped shape our nation. During Black History Month, engage in meaningful conversations, educate yourself on lesser-known figures, and support Black-owned businesses. Actively seek out diverse perspectives in literature, music, and art. Remember, it's not just about a month; ongoing awareness and allyship matter. It’s Black History Month. 🙌🏾 A time to celebrate and honor the contributions, achievements, and voices of Black people. But the celebration of Black History Month and the successes and #perseverance of Black people cannot be addressed without acknowledging the deep disparities, inequities, and systems of power that Black people have to continuously overcome. As an organization that’s committed to advancing health #equity, we understand it is vital to examine the complex interactions between people and their environments if we’re to be a part of the fight for a more equitable future. Throughout Black History Month, week by week, we will amplify Black voices, #innovations, resources, and issues that disproportionately impact Black communities and the contributions ETR is making to address Black health equity in and outside the organization. #HealthEquity #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHealth #BHM #BHM2024 #BlackHealthMatters #BlackHistory

As we observe Black History Month, it's essential to address a stark reality for this community: Approximately 53% of Black children in the U.S. are likely to encounter a CPS investigation by the age of 18, a rate nearly double that for White children. This statistic is a sobering reminder of the inequalities faced by Black families. At PCA America, we embrace and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of African Americans, particularly in the arts, as highlighted in this year's theme. However, we also recognize the urgent need for equitable treatment and support for all families. This month, let's commit to creating a world where every child, irrespective of their background, has the opportunity to thrive. #BlackHistoryMonth2024 #ArtForChange #EquityForAll

🎯The Black History Month is not a marketing strategy to advance your diversity agenda. Black History Matters. Today, I am reminded of a quote by Susanne B. Anthony that I have adapted for this post. 🎯"One day, we will be noticed, and everyone will think it has always been this way. Just as many young people today believe that all the privileges Black people possess today have always been ours. Every inch of ground we stand on was gained through the hard work, contribution, and sacrifices of great women and men in the past and present." 🎯To create an equitable future, we must be aware of and acknowledge the influence of Black people on the past, present, and future. Our stories need to be told and heard to promote understanding of our societal norms and constructs. This month is meant to highlight, recognize, and celebrate the contribution of Black people in the world. 🎯Without our history, we ultimately lack our identity. The Black History Month Matters. #leadership #futureofwork #blackhistorymonth #equity #diversity #linkedinnewseurope #natalieschrogl

As Black History Month comes to a close, we are thinking about how we carry the practices we focused on this month into the rest of the year. Ashley Andersen, MSW, SVP of ClearEdge Rising shared a post this month about the importance of seeking out books written by black authors and scholars. You can (and should) read her full post about it at the link in our comments, and here are a few other actions we’re taking along with us 👇 ✨ Supporting Black led organizations like Women of Color in Staffing ✨ Reflecting on our own privilege and finding the courage to engage in difficult conversations ✨ Engaging with Black founded businesses such as Diversiology.IO Black History Month allows us to shine a light on the historical significance and impact of the Black community and engage in conversations around racial equity and justice. As we move into the rest of the year, may the spark of Black History Month be an igniting force around how important it is for us to always be striving toward greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. What are you planning on taking into the rest of the year with you? #BlackHistoryMonth #DEIB #BookStack #staffingindustry #leadershipdevelopment
