Recently, my colleague Mads Delcin Faurby and I had the incredible opportunity to travel from our base in Plainsboro to the Novo Nordisk BioInnovation Hub in Boston to give a market perspective on the unmet medical needs in obesity and T2D, the competitive environment and value. We had a great dialogue around the innovation to come for patients living with serious chronic disease with our colleagues, who are working with early, innovative and cutting-edge assets to help drive change for patients living with serious chronic diseases. The idea was to foster collaboration between the early and late parts of the value chain, and to provide a market perspective on the unmet needs, ultimately helping our colleagues to make bold decisions when it comes to developing future innovations for patients obesity and T2D. It was an amazing crowd, and we heard some pretty wild ideas for future treatment modalities! We saw a few familiar faces, met new people, made connections across the organization, and came up with new and creative ideas for collaboration. And to top it off, it all happened in beautiful surroundings! Taking time out of a busy schedule to connect with colleagues and share cross-functional knowledge is tough. But it’s extremely important to take that time to foster the needed collaboration across the value chain, to ensure end-to-end thinking, while keeping patient needs in mind. This was one way to do it. What are you doing to foster collaboration with colleagues you usually don’t engage with? We should encourage colleagues to collaborate on things like this; to share ideas and educate and inspire each other, all the while increasing their knowledge of the organization and the drug development value chain and fostering an enterprise mindset. Thank you, Trine Pagh Ludvigsen Cecilie Heerdegen Jepsen. MD, PhD Sebastian Beck Jørgensen and Uli Stilz for inviting us – it was a true pleasure! #NovoNordisk #Innovation #Collaboration #Healthcare #DrugDevelopment #BioInnovationHub

Recently, at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Global Science Summit 2024 in Denmark, three of the world's most highly regarded foundations: Novo Nordisk Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Wellcome Trust, announced a three-year partnership aimed at addressing the health impacts of climate change. The initial funding of $300 million will support solutions accessible to Low- and Middle-Income Countries, focusing on climate resilience, disease surveillance, and understanding health interactions. “By pooling the vast experience and unique expertise of each organization - across research, technology, innovation, and enterprise - we can make advances that wouldn’t otherwise be possible,” said Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen, CEO, Novo Nordisk Foundation. The initiative emphasizes direct support for researchers to foster local innovation. The CEOs of the three foundations express optimism in scientific solutions and call for expanded collaboration across sectors to advance global health research. They envision philanthropy as a catalyst for broader partnerships in addressing global health disparities. This partnership aligns with gMendel®'s innovative diagnostic solution of genetic disorders that contributes to addressing global health challenges. The societal burden of the rare diseases exceeds €2 trillion worldwide, and the lifetime costs of disease management exceeds $2.5 million per patient, but early accurate diagnosis could save $500,000 per patient. This demonstrates a clear unmet clinical need for better, faster, and affordable screening and diagnosis of rare diseases that could significantly improve patient outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and enhance the efficiency of the entire diagnostic process. #genetics #genomics #screening #diagnostics #rarediseases #geneticdisorders #healthcare #innovation #healthtech #AI #artificialintelligence #machinelearning #companiondiagnostics #precisionmedicine #VC #venturecapital https://lnkd.in/eFTrr4qM

Recently, my colleague Azadeh Houshmand-Øregaard and I had the incredible opportunity to travel from our base in Plainsboro to the Novo Nordisk BioInnovation Hub in Boston to give a market perspective on the unmet medical needs in obesity and T2D, the competitive environment and value. We had a great dialogue around the innovation to come for patients living with serious chronic disease with our innovative colleagues, who are working with very early, innovative and cutting-edge assets to help drive change for patients living with serious chronic diseases. The idea was to foster collaboration between the very early part of the value chain and the end of the value chain, to provide a market perspective on the unmet needs hopefully helping them to make bold decisions when it comes to develop to future innovations for patients with type II diabetes and obesity. It is an amazing crowd, and it turns out there are some pretty wild ideas for future treatment modalities cooking out there! We saw a few familiar faces, met new people, made connections across the organization, and came up with new and creative ideas for collaboration. C Space Health (Samantha Mason, Jeff Morrill and Kristin Masoud) enjoyed connecting with clients, colleagues and friends at this year's Pharma Market Research Conference PMRC last week! Of particular note was our at-capacity round table where we discussed successes and challenges of incorporating social determinants of health (SDOH) into insights work. Just a few key takeaways: Have the privacy team on speed dial as populations of interest get smaller and smaller; get creative with sourcing to find those harder-to-reach individuals; cheaper and faster is not always possible with these populations when it needs to be inclusive — and that's OK! Thanks to Chris O'Konis of Sarepta Therapeutics for sharing your experiences with the group, and to everyone who attended from Organon Merck ViiV Healthcare Purdue Pharma L.P. 🚀I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be speaking at the upcoming DIA Global Meeting, taking place in San Diego, US, between 16-20 June, on a topic that's close to my heart: Digital Biomarkers as Clinical Endpoints - The Road to Regulatory Acceptability. 💡In an era where technology and healthcare are increasingly intertwined, digital biomarkers offer groundbreaking potential to revolutionize clinical trials and patient care. This session will explore how we can harness these innovative tools to meet regulatory standards and improve health outcomes worldwide. 🔍In my speech, I'll be diving deep into the current landscape of digital biomarkers, with the focus on Europe, and exploring the path towards wider regulatory acceptance. I'll be sharing real-world examples and @Bayer’s perspective to help us navigate this exciting new frontier in clinical research. 🙏I'm especially grateful to Susan Awad and Lina AlJuburi for inviting me to share the industry insights on this critical topic. Digital biomarkers have the potential to revolutionize clinical trials, offering a more objective and efficient way to measure treatment effects. However, their regulatory acceptance is still evolving. 🌐 If you're interested in the future of clinical trials and the potential of digital biomarkers, then be sure to join the conference! I look forward to a stimulating discussion and the opportunity to connect with fellow leaders in the healthcare industry. hashtag #digitalhealth hashtag #clinicaltrials hashtag #regulatoryaffairs hashtag #globalhealthcare hashtag #digitalbiomarkers hashtag #DIA2024 https://ow.ly/XxFR50QwsWt Steve Berman – BIO, Deputy Vice President, Science and Regulatory Affairs Strategy Gul Erdemli – Novartis, Global Program Regulatory director Anindita (Annie) Saha – FDA Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives, Digital Health Center of Excellence Marwan Fathallah, President and Chief Executive Officer, DIA Global Ania Mitan, DIA Susan Benedetti, MSOL, DES, Senior Project Manager, Global Annual Meeting Maureen Lamplugh, Retired, Former Annual Meeting Program Manager, DIA Christian Rommel, Bayer AG Stefan Oelrich, Bayer AG Elena Popa, Bayer AG Antoine Manson, Bayer AG
