BSc Sport & Exercise Science Graduate | Aspiring Sports Physiologist | Dedicated to Enhancing Athletic Performance and Injury Prevention
Sport teaches us character. It shows us the importance of playing by the rules and helps us experience the highs of winning and the lessons from losing. Through sport, we learn about life, teamwork, resilience, and so much more. It helps young kids build their confidence, gives them a sense of belonging, and teaches them responsibility. Everyone should be able to access sport, and kids of all abilities and disabilities should be encouraged to try different sports. Sport should be an inclusive platform where everyone can grow, learn, and thrive, based solely on talent, nothing more, nothing less. We’ve made significant progress in terms of inclusivity, yet it often feels like we are not evolving fast enough.
64% of disabled teenage girls don't engage in sport or exercise regularly🚨 Created in partnership with Access Sport, The Sweaty Betty Foundation, Women in Sport and Nuffield Health, this important research project sheds light on the untold struggles of disabled teenage girls in accessing sport and exercise, exposing the harsh realities faced by thousands of girls across the country. This has to be a wake-up call for everyone. Find out more 👉 https://lnkd.in/eFknXHFT #StandForInclusion

Have you ever wondered what research would be like if the studies were designed by the people typically being researched? Too often, research to understand and solve healthcare inequities leaves out the people directly experiencing these issues. Design Impact has been supporting the RWJF Community Research for Health Equity program, a grant program managed by AcademyHealth, to advance community-led research. Watch this video to see how grantees are transforming their local healthcare systems. #healthequity #communityledresearch #communityresearch

Happy International Women’s Day! Today, on #InternationalWomensDay, let's shine a light on the vital role of women in healthcare and advocacy. Women’s health research often gets overlooked, yet it's crucial for achieving equity and parity in health and healthcare. Many women serve as unpaid caregivers for loved ones, facing unique challenges affecting their economic independence and well-being. It's time to address these issues and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all #IWD2024

How to Monitor and Later Evaluate the Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups (Roma, Youth, Women, and Others) in the Community? I had the opportunity to provide training on monitoring and evaluation to organizations tackling the inclusion of vulnerable groups. A multi-sector approach is required for the M&E framework of these types of interventions, which involves: ♧Monitoring of inclusion in educational systems ♧Monitoring of inclusion in the labor market ♧Public administration must be touched by inclusion ♧Awareness and advocacy are also key components of inclusion #monitoring #evaluation #MEAL #m&e #capacitybuilding #research #analysis #training

The upcoming 'Beyond the Shadows' online webinar on 5th December will shed light on the experiences of children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD) impacted by domestic and family violence (DFV). This webinar marks the importance of the United Nations' 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence. Featuring special guest and former Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations, Angelica Ojinnaka, a passionate youth affairs advocate and researcher dedicated to shaping change on social inequalities experienced by children and young people. In the DFV context, responses can primarily focus on the needs of adults, and this approach can lead to children being invisible and not receiving the help they need. Children impacted by DFV are among the most vulnerable people in our community, and children from CALD backgrounds, who are structurally marginalised, face even greater challenges. This webinar aims to amplify these voices to ensure children from CALD backgrounds and young people are no longer invisible in the development of public policy and programs that impact them. Please share this post. You can register via: https://lnkd.in/e95mMw5X The seminar will present the findings of a recent report published by SSI and Myriad Kofkin Global that spotlights these previously untapped voices. Specific summaries of the report for NSW, Victoria, and Queensland are also available. A diverse and experienced panel will explore how policy and service environments can be more inclusive of children’s voices, with the aim of ensuring that children of CALD backgrounds are at the forefront of policy and decision making in the DFV space. "Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." ~Desmond Tutu Introducing Leonum Advisors "Stronger Communities Initiative"! At Leonum Advisors, we're committed to fostering safer, healthier, and more inclusive communities. Our Stronger Communities Initiative champions three key areas of support: 1. Ending Violence Against Women and Girls: We partner with local organizations to create programs that train and empower boys and men to lead change among their peers, promoting respect and safety for all. 2. Mental Healthcare for Impoverished Communities: Access to mental health resources is crucial. We're working with service providers to ensure everyone has the support they need, regardless of their background or income level. 3. Entrepreneurship in Historically-Excluded Communities: We believe in the power of business to transform lives. Through this initiative, we build pathways for entrepreneurship in communities that have historically been left behind. We're proud to collaborate with local advocates, service providers, and business organizations to make a lasting impact in every community we serve. Where can we collaborate or coordinate to make sustainable positive impact? Join us in creating stronger, more resilient communities for a safer and more secure world. #StrongerCommunities #EndVAWG #MMIWG #CRSV #SDG5 #MentalHealthcare #SupplierDiversity #SocEnt #ImpInv #GlobalCompact

Empowering Women and Youth: A Bridge to a Brighter Future As we commemorate the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we take a moment to celebrate the transformative power of community-led initiatives. Today, we are proud to highlight the construction of a bridge that has become a lifeline for the Musirizwi community, in Chipinge, Manicaland, providing women and youth with access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Prior to the construction of the bridge, children would often miss school when it flooded, disrupting their education and hindering their future prospects. Women were also unable to access healthcare facilities, leading to preventable health complications. The Musirizwi bridge has transformed the lives of women and youth in this community, providing them with access to essential social services they need to reach their full potential. As Nkosi Thuma Mina, we are committed to continuing our work to empower women and youth and create a world where everyone has the opportunity to live a life free from violence and poverty. Please join us in taking action to end gender-based violence and create a more just and equitable world for all. #16daysofactivism #orangetheworld #touchingpeopletransforminglivesforeternity
