Safety almost always comes down to doing the little things right, day after day. That’s why Astra Safety Director Dan Resendes awarded our Focus Four Gift Card Safety Award to USA Mechanical & Energy Services' Lucas Gorcenski. Lucas keeps his Arc Flash gloves in full sight every time he enters his van, so he always has them when he needs them. A small thing that makes a big difference!

My wife was given a Stanely Cup as a gift. I see them everywhere, what’s going on… When I drop off and pick up my kids from school I see almost every kid carrying around a Stanley Cup. 🥤 How has everyone fallen under the Stanely Cup spell. I hopped on Amazon and saw they are selling for $40 for a 40-ounce cup with handle. You can also buy accessory toppers. 🐓 🐭 Adorable little animals that keep a lid on the straw. 🐷 🐯 This can cost you $7 for 10. You can change them out every day. 🐸 🐧 Including tax, you can drink water in style for somewhere near $50. I then looked up just a regular metal, 40-oz water cannister. The least expensive one I could find was $20. 🥤 It holds and delivers water to its patron just as effectively as a Stanley. It didn’t come with the adorable straw toppers, but you can order it in multiple colors. With no real added drinking benefit, The Stanley cup with toppers was selling for a 150% premium. 😱 What is the cost of drinking water in style? What is the premium for a fad? I know it’s only a $30 difference, but consumers do this all the time. We want what is style, what looks cool, and what everyone else has. And we will pay up for this appearance. (For the record, we have two Stanely Cups in our house.) What have you paid up for when you knew there was no real functional benefit? (We all do it, be honest with yourself 😁)

I’ve debated posting about this incident, however given the lack of publicity I figured it needed to be shared within our industry. A Walmart employee of 10 years was killed a few weeks ago (Forklift/Racking related incident), at a Distribution Center in Fort Worth TX. This is currently under investigation from OSHA and Walmart, the details have yet to be released. However the family received conflicting information around this incident and is requesting support. See link below. https://lnkd.in/g_pnNsWC This incident is a reminder that safety should always be a top priority in our industry. No matter the size of your organization, routine audits of equipment, storage systems, and overall warehouse functions are crucial in maintaining a safe workspace. Overall maintenance of these items has to take place on a routine cadence. I extend my condolences and prayers to the Rios family during this difficult time. I sincerely hope that Walmart will do the right thing and ensure that something like this never happens again. Nothing can replace the value of a lost life. Preventing these tragedies is exactly why Bold exists today. Let's fight for safety, fight for answers, and fight for a safe workspace. #safety #warehousesafety #incidentinvestigation #materialhandling #forklift #palletrack #texas #fortworth #nsc #safetytraining #inspections #bebold #standupforchange

Not another thought piece on "How great experience wins customers" you groan... well, I'll have to insist on sharing when it's true 😄 . However, sparing you a TLDR article, I'll get straight to the point. It's the little things that win you customers. It's the little things that transform you from a faceless brand, to a company with real people behind it. Case in point: I recently ordered a few things from this company called Normcore. They mentioned on the online advert that you get a 5% discount for your first order. I have been eyeing their black portafilter for awhile and thought, what the heck, early Xmas present. promptly went to their site, registered and ordered. But in my excitement of ordering and dreaming of my soon to be brewed espresso in this all matt black gear (I'm convinced it will taste 100% better).. I forgot to key in the 5% discount code. I only realised this several days later, and decided to email them. In my mind, I was already prepared for the reply saying "Sorry, your order has been processed..." or "Sorry, the offer is only allowed when you first submitted..." or "Sorry, our system does not allow to apply a discount code retrospectively..." (this one is my favourite BTW. Always blame the system). But you know where this is going already. A few days later I received a polite reply asking me to confirm the order details, in a very human "Hi, is this your order?". I said yes. And lo and behold, a few days later "Here's your updated invoice. Discount has been refunded." Nice. Normcore, congratulations, you now have a new loyal customer. #normcore #customerexperience https://lnkd.in/gnAHm_K3

Power Plays and Puck Magic: Dominant Lead Unleashes Stanley Cup Frenzy! 🏒✨ The maker of Stanley cups, Pacific Market International, is facing a lawsuit over the presence of lead in its products. The suit alleges that the company did not disclose the use of lead in its manufacturing process until January 2024. Stanley responded to claims, stating that lead is used in the process but clarified that the product needs to be damaged to expose the lead. The lawsuit accuses Stanley and Pacific Market International of misleading customers by not warning them about potential exposure from damage to the vacuum seal and not disclosing the amount of lead in each cup. Stanley has vowed to defend itself against the claims. Concerns have risen about potential lead exposure, especially when the cover on the bottom of the cup comes off, exposing the lead-containing pellet used to seal the cup's vacuum insulation. Stanley has assured that there is practically zero risk of ingesting lead if the cover remains intact. However, lead poisoning activist Tamara Rubin has reported finding lead in Stanley tumblers after the protective cover has come off, raising concerns about heavy use, children fidgeting with the area, and repeated washings increasing the likelihood of exposure. The article outlines the risks of lead exposure and poisoning, emphasizing the dangers associated with repeated exposure. Symptoms of lead poisoning in both adults and children are listed, and experts recommend vigilance regarding the condition of the cup's bottom cover. Stanley cups do contain lead in their manufacturing process, and the company is working on alternative materials for the sealing process. The article also mentions that other companies, such as Hydro Flask, Owala, and Klean Kanteen, do not use lead in their manufacturing. Customers are advised to keep an eye on the bottom of their Stanley cups to ensure the cover stays in place. If the cover does come off and exposes the lead-containing seal, customers can submit a claim under the product’s lifetime warranty. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) monitors products for lead violations and has recalled several children’s products with accessible pellets that exceed federal lead content regulations. Consumers are encouraged to report any lead-related concerns to the CPSC. Walkers Crisps UK is running a promo where you can win 500 quid. I couldn’t be arsed to scan the QR code and type in a 25-digit code but the 7-year-old’s already worked out how many Switch games he could buy with the winnings and lies don’t work anymore, so here goes… Me: hand over personal details. Make a mental note to unsubscribe as soon as we’ve dealt with the disappointment. PepsiCo: thanks for telling us your life story. Now read this bit of guff about exercising your rights. Me: what am I being protected from here? PepsiCo: oh don’t worry about that, just click the link to read your rights Me: there isn’t a link PepsiCo: tick the boxes then Me: if I tick, am I agreeing to be spammed or not? PepsiCo: not sure but our lawyers told us to add that bit so you have to do it Me: you do know a lot more people would use this if it was designed properly? Beckham’s mug will only get you so far. PepsiCo: I told you, our lawyers made us do it Me: at this point I’d rather buy my kid 12.5 Switch games to avoid dealing with this headfu*k of a UI. I’m out. PepsiCo: OK, speak soon 💋 Me: wait, wha-
