During our Cleanergy progress showcase, Ministers Tom Alweendo and Tinne Van der Straeten initiated a Belgium study tour on hydrogen technology, currently underway. As part of this tour, the Namibian delegation is experiencing first hand the pioneering advancements in hydrogen technology, including a visit to the Hydrotug, the world’s first dual-fuel tugboat. The Hydrotug and the world’s first multimodal hydrogen refuelling station in the Port of Antwerp are testaments to the successful collaboration between CMB.TECH and Port of Antwerp-Bruges. Earlier this month, Cleanergy, in partnership with CMB.TECH, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, and Namibian Ports Authority - Namport, proudly announced the launch of Africa's first hydrogen-powered ship: a Multi Purpose Harbour Utility Vessel (MPHUV) powered by dual-fuel hydrogen engines. __ #cleanergysolutionsnamibia #partnership #cmbtech #oandl #poab #greenhydrogen #dualfuel #hydrotug #creatingasustainablefuture

Cleanergy Solutions Namibia Hosts Distinguished Guests: H.M. the King of the Belgians and H.E. President of the Republic of Namibia. Today, we proudly hosted the Cleanergy Green Hydrogen progress showcase at the plant's site in Walvis Bay, Namibia, under the guidance of His Majesty, King of Belgians and H.E. Dr Nangolo Mbumba, President of the Republic of Namibia. A highlight of the visit was the ceremonial first filling of a dual fuel truck at the hydrogen refuelling station, representing the importance of robust, sustainable partnerships between Namibian and Belgian organisations. 🤝 Executive Chairman of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group, Sven Thieme - "This initiative is more than a project; it’s a testament to our relentless drive for excellence, our commitment to sustainability, and our unwavering belief in partnership." CEO of CMB.TECH, Alexander Saverys - "We need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but industries that are difficult to reduce, such as maritime industries, ports and mining, cannot switch to electricity or batteries. Instead of electrons, they need molecules. We plan to produce these molecules in Walvis Bay to power locally operated trucks, port equipment, locomotives and small ships." In addition, Cleanergy, together with CMB.TECH, Port of Antwerp-Bruges and Namport, will launch the first hydrogen-powered ship in Africa. This Multifunctional Port Utility Vessel (MPHUV) - powered by dual fuel hydrogen engines - will enable the integration of different equipment needed for a range of port operations, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions during operations. A key element of the Cleanergy Hydrogen site is knowledge exchange, represented by the Hydrogen Academy. The aim is to transform the Academy into a premier hub of hydrogen expertise in Namibia. 👀 You can read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/dbQybFgc ___ #cleanergysolutionsnamibia #partnership #cmbtech #decarbonisetodaynavigatetomorrow #dualfuel #innovation #oandl #solarpower #greenhydrogen #namibia #erongo #walvisbay #creatingasustainablefuture ___ CMB.TECH & Ohlthaver & List

“AD Ports and Masdar eye #hydrogenhub in KEZAD” Adis Ajdin - December 12, 2023 “Abu Dhabi’s ports and logistics giant AD Ports Group and clean energy developer Masdar have joined forces to explore the development of a #greenhydrogen production hub within the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD).” “A memorandum of understanding penned on the sidelines of the #COP28 in Dubai envisions a #hydrogenproductionhub that will serve both domestic and export markets. The move is part of the UAE’s strategy that aims to scale up local #hydrogenproduction to 1.4m tons per year by 2031, and 15m tons per year by 2050.” “Masdar is targeting an annual global green hydrogen production capacity of up to 1m tons by 2030 and has already signed and executed several collaboration agreements to meet this goal, including those with Spain’s Iberdrola and Amsterdam #port.” “Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi CEO of Masdar, said: “Green hydrogen has enormous potential to #decarbonise #hardtoabatesectors and accelerate the journey to #netzero. Given more than 80% of global trade is transported by sea, partnerships like this are vital to ensure integrated #greenhydrogenvaluechains. Working with AD Ports Group, we’ll explore measures to further decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors by encouraging the use of green hydrogen in #portoperations and as #vesselfuels, while facilitating the import and export of #hydrogen.” “AD Ports said the project could include export terminals of green products to overseas ports, which would attract more investments into the green hydrogen value chain in Abu Dhabi, as well as offer current and future KEZAD and Khalifa Port tenants the opportunity to develop #greenindustries.” “”The signing of this MoU with Masdar is a monumental step for AD Ports Group. It aligns perfectly with our #greenH2valley strategy, amplifying our efforts to create a robust UAE #H2platform for developing green and #bluehydrogen projects both domestically and globally,” added Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, managing director and CEO of AD Ports Group.” https://lnkd.in/eqtqUtD9? Lhyfe and SAF+ International Group have signed a memorandum of understanding to combine their expertise to develop the production of electro Sustainable Aviation Fuel (e-SAF) from #renewable #hydrogen. The partners are aiming for a facility in the port region of Le Havre, where Lhyfe would build a #greenhydrogen production site with a capacity of more than 100 tonnes per day (300 MW of installed #electrolysis capacity) to supply an #eSAF production site that SAF+ is planning to build. This industrial complex would be connected to the hydrocarbon transport network in order to transport the e-SAF obtained from Le Havre to airports in the Paris region, as well as in northern and eastern France via the existing infrastructure. The companies are aiming for a market launch by 2030, to align with market expectations and the zero-emission targets set for 2050.
