Lately, Oprah Winfrey is peeling back the layers of her life and showing fans that she is a lot more like the average homegirl than she has ever let on. First, she joked about drinking her gal pal Gayle King under the table, now, she is sharing stories about how she once followed her ex-boyfriend to his other lover’s house to bust him red-handed. Despite seeing with her own eyes his infidelity, the billionaire media maven responded like many a deceived girlfriend, believing her lying beaux. Read Further: https://lnkd.in/eP5QgPCR

Morning Reflections Black Man 101 Illusions, delusions and celebrity Early in my career as a creative, I thought I wanted to be a celebrity. There were moments during my performances when I would look out into the audience and know that I really didn’t want that. I was in a number of situations that helped me understand how celebrity really works. It is a form of slavery, and the general public doesn’t really know the details of your legal requirements. You are a slave in most cases. You may appear to have money, but all of that is a fragile veneer that can crack and fall off at any point in time. As I got to know different celebrities in the arts and entertainment industry, I was turned off more and more. What these people had to do for their celebrity status disgusted me. Families were neglected, wives and husbands were cheated on, money was stolen, and these folks began to look like vampires to me. In my heart, I knew that I just wanted to be myself at all times. I am a terrible liar, so I don’t even try. I enjoy servicing my community more than I enjoy being idolized. Honestly, I feel better making people’s plates, building things, or washing cars more than I enjoy being waited on. I could not imagine having to pretend to be someone else just for the sake of popularity. Especially when you look at the contracts and know what is really happening behind the scenes in the business. I would rather be myself and add to my community in a positive way, based on my instincts and ethics. Serving my community is much more satisfying. Being trusted by my family means more to me than being seen as a celebrity. Also, the truth is, I am very boring in real life. I work and build things. I eat well and workout to keep a healthy body and mind. I don’t consume a bunch of TV or social media. I enjoy when my daughters call me, and I like talking to my mama. I like being around my family, who get it; they may not understand everything that I am doing, but they understand the importance of my work. I am not celebrity-driven. I am results-driven. I will do things the right way. #OkeebaTheMayor #BookofBalo #TheLongWayHome

Futuristic Thought Leader | Creative Graphic Designer | I share inspiring ideas and tell stories to shape culture and innovative solutions.
What Next, after 63 years? Are we really Independent? I stand as a voice for over 190 million people who share the same skin. I stand as a voice for the boy on the street with big dreams, hoping one day the world would really see the magic of his craft. I stand as a voice for the little girl in class filled with uncertainties, yet hoping one day she'd be the Oprah Winfrey of her time. We have all right to vent our rage about everything going wrong. We also have the grace to really see what is working, and be grateful for the blossoming flowers in the midst of withering plants. This is our call to stand; to know our place and rise to heights that would defy every denial. The most honorable protest we can conduct is to fill the spaces of power. Spaces in tech. Spaces in global voices. Spaces in leadership. Spaces in advocacy. Spaces in economics and marketing. Spaces in production, etc. We are in this time of history for a reason. And we can't leave until we've completed our mission. Fellow Nigerian, the time is now. Rise! 🇳🇬 #independence #rise #voice

https://lnkd.in/eMi4vKES Discernment. Do not believe everything you read in the media. Sadly journalism as a way of commenting on the world with accuracy and a discerning point of you is not always so highly prized. Making a story to sell papers/ copy by distorting reality can create incredibly biased story telling.. We make a judgement of a story based on what we choose to notice and believe. What many of the UK tabloids majored on was a moment Harry looked distracted and glum. It was biased, leading sensationalism to support a narrative. There was no contrast to the evident joy experienced by Price Harry and Meghan. In all we do lets get more discerning and less judging. Lets ask, what are the facts? Where is there other evidence that might lead to a different conclusion? Doesn't matter what the topic or whether its in our professional or private life. There are more than these few examples of course. Politics. Impact of my action on my planet. Celebrity endorsement. Influencers. Treatment options with Mental Health. We must start pushing back at the inaccuracies and mis-representations. All of us. Use our mental faculty and ability to be discerning. This matters to our grandchildren and their children's futures.
Meghan (fan page) on Instagram: "Signing off with love on top 😉💃🪩😴: Meghan was joined by Harry, Doria (the birthday girl), the ever-talented Abigail Spencer, who has been Meghan's close friend for over two decades and Genevieve from university in a private box at @beyonce’s concert. From experience, I am sure it was nothing short of magical. It's no secret that Meghan is a huge fan of Beyoncé
