🌟 **Empowering Diversity in the West Midlands** 🌟 On Tuesday, the #WestMidlands Regional Board on Race Inclusion came together to explore innovative approaches to diversity. We were fortunate to hear from Severn Trent on their impressive work linking ethnicity data to industry standards and overlaying it with geographical diversity. 🌍📊 🤝 **Key Insights:** 1. **Allyship Matters:** Having executive sponsors is essential for the success of any EDI group. Their support can make a significant impact.  2. **Earned Leadership:** EDI Group Chair positions are earned based on merit and commitment, not just volunteered for. This ensures dedicated and passionate leadership. 3. **Strategic Integration:** The overall EDI strategy is seamlessly interlinked with the business' broader strategy and vision, reinforcing its importance at every level. 🚀 A huge thank you to Alison Smith for sharing such valuable best practices and fostering a culture of information sharing. Audre Lorde and other women of color feminists and womanists have been extremely influential in our work here at Indy Equity. They influence how we think of possibilities of equity in organizations and help us see clear gaps in current diversity management research. In our fellowship, the Indy Collective Leadership Circle, this month we are reading bell hooks to learn how to incorporate an ethic of love into our work.
