Meet the class of 2024! 👨🎓 Our summer bootcamp in Birmingham wrapped up this week, and what a summer it’s been. ☀ Partnering with Millennium Point Birmingham and Digital Innovators, over four weeks we had innovation, creativity and confidence on the syllabus. Groups of children met for the first time to come up with solutions to challenges and creations like the ‘Flood buster’ were born – one of many fantastic ideas from the young Brummie innovators. 💡 Joining us on our final day, was Councillor Sharon Thompson, JP, Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council & Cabinet Member for Economy & Skills and Deputy Mayor of West Midlands Combined Authority – who presented the children with awards and spoke to the room about the importance of providing opportunities and tips to be your best self. The camp was designed to boost confidence, build resilience, and spark creativity with the goal to help young people positively build skills and confidence to support them with continuing with education and finding employment in the future. Jacob 12, said: “This has brought out the creative side in me, I never thought I could create the things that I have.” Maryam 13, added: “It’s been fun meeting new people and building my confidence.” Big thanks to everyone involved, especially all the wonderful children - our future generation - who made this a huge success! Meet the next generation of innovators! 💡 We’ve partnered with Digital Innovators and Millennium Point Birmingham to launch a summer bootcamp to help inspire and engage young people in Birmingham. Every week a group of 11 to 14 year olds are coming together for the first time to come up with innovative solutions to challenges set by us around key topics like climate change and water saving. This bootcamp is all about helping young people build confidence, resilience, and creativity, while creating opportunities for them to thrive, meet new people and learn new skills that will stay with them for life. As it’s also International Youth Day, which is all about highlighting the positive impact of young people, we’re proud to be helping to develop the next generation of talent and showcasing their amazing creations!
