🔬 Excited to present our latest scientific developments in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) at the #ADPD2024 Conference! 💡   “The small molecule GAL-201 belongs to a new pharmacological class of amyloid beta aggregation modulators that acts upstream of other known Aβ-targeting agents in Alzheimer’s disease,” explained Hermann Russ, M.D. Ph.D. founder, and Chief Scientific Officer of Galimedix Therapeutics, Inc. “The positive preclinical results presented at AD/PD™ 2024 demonstrate how treatment with GAL-201 has a potential neuroprotective effect and may also improve cognitive function.”   These results further support that toxic Aβ oligomers and protofibrils are a major underlying cause of this devastating disease. One week to go before the American Heart Association Annual meeting (#AHA23) kicks off in Philadelphia. On behalf of our people at Cardiomedex, I am very excited to be sharing the latest results showing the clinical relevance of the diet-Induced Obese NASH Hamster for evaluating drugs targeting HFpEF during the poster session “The Next Generation of Heart Failure Research” on Sunday November 12th, from 3:30-4:45PM (poster #2223) This model shows severe heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) related to evident hepatocellular ballooning and portal/bridging (stage 2-3) fibrosis and develops alterations in kidney function as characterized by our subsidiary company Physiogenex. This preclinical model provides a unique opportunity to evaluate the efficacy of drugs targeting HFpEF in a clinically relevant model. We are excited to announce that #GOHIBIC (vilobelimab) has been selected by Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) as an investigational therapy to be assessed in a Phase 2 clinical platform study that explores potential new options for the treatment of #ARDS. The Phase 2 multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, will evaluate the safety and efficacy of three selected novel host-directed therapeutics, including GOHIBIC, at approximately 60 U.S. sites, with a total target enrollment of 600 hospitalized adults with ARDS. Given vilobelimab’s potent inhibition of #C5a and a host-directed mechanism of action, we believe it has the potential for broader applicability as a potent anti-inflammatory agent in ARDS. ❗BREAKING❗1st Patient Dosed in Ph 1 Clinical Trial Last night 💉 we dosed our first patient in our Phase 1 clinical trial of CYT-108 for the treatment of osteoarthritis. The patient received 25mg of CYT-108, our recombinant Alpha-2-Macroglobulin variant. They were observed for 30 minutes and no acute adverse events were detected. This event marks our transition from a preclinical research company to a clinical-stage company, a massive milestone that underscores our commitment to transforming the treatment of osteoarthritis. 📅 Timeline and Next Steps This patient will receive their final dose in late September, with the last follow-up scheduled for January 2025. Over the next two months, we anticipate enrolling and dosing approximately 20 more patients, keeping us on track for the Phase 1 clinical report to be published in June 2025. Each step brings us closer to our goal of providing a disease-modifying treatment for osteoarthritis, potentially benefiting millions of patients worldwide. Pleased to announce that we have entered into an exclusive agreement with Coya Therapeutics, Inc. for the development and commercialisation of COYA 302, an investigational combination biologic therapy for treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Patients with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, have few treatment options. The investigational combination biologic COYA 302 has the potential to make a meaningful difference to patients with this progressive neurodegenerative disease. FDA Approves Afami-cel Cellular Therapy for Advanced Synovial Sarcoma The FDA has granted accelerated approval to afamitresgene autoleucel (afami-cel), an engineered T-cell therapy targeting the MAGE-A4 protein, for advanced synovial sarcoma. This decision is based on the SPEARHEAD-1 trial, where 39% of heavily pretreated patients responded to the therapy, with a median response duration of 12 months and overall survival of 17 months. The approval represents a significant advancement in treatment options for synovial sarcoma.
