It’s very sad that such acts of genocide happen in the heart of Europe in broad daylight, and, ironically, the country behind all this is at the helm of the United Nations Security Council. I’m fortunate to have my children far away from their home. They are safe and unaffected, but my heart and soul cry out all day today, and I mourn for those innocent people who have lost their lives and for their loved ones. God, help Ukraine and keep its children safe from the inhumanity of the monstrous Russian regime.
There is reason to believe that it was a calculated attack and a direct hit on the children’s hospital. It is to show the upcoming NATO summit that the Russians will commit whatever crimes they want, and there would be no punishment from the international community. The world will impassively close their eyes again to discuss partitioning of Ukraine and how to induce peace negotiations, so the Russians hopefully stop in Ukraine, and won’t go further into Europe. They probably don’t realize that the Russians will resume their war in a couple of years, but only next time the scale of their aggression and the devastation they will cause will be much greater. Russia must be stopped and made to pay for all the atrocities and inhumanities committed during this unprovoked and unjustified aggression on Ukraine! It’s time to act now, but, for some reason, I feel pessimistic about any ensuing action by the global powers… The stakes are too high, and the situation is too dangerous. Well, as I see it, the classic Russian principle of de-escalation through controlled escalation is in the works. God, please help Ukraine!

❝Neither NATO countries nor Australia are making truly painful financial sacrifices on Ukraine’s behalf.❞
In this new Critical Thinking article, Sam Roggeveen, Director of the International Security Programme at the Lowy Institute, argues that the current contributions of the European and US governments do not explicitly symbolise their existential fear of Russia.
The US' reluctance to use force could leave Asian countries powerless to counter China's ambitions, leaving Australia isolated. If this were the case, ❝Australia will become ever more deeply entangled in Washington's contest with Beijing, a contest that could lead to military confrontation.❞

Today, marks 10 years since #Euromaidan, when thousands of Ukrainians gathered to protest for a future in #Europe. Since then the road has been long and windy, with #Ukraine defending its choice with arms against Russian aggression.

If anyone has any doubts about why we must help Ukraine win this war, watch this.
If Russia even has a semblance of victory in this conflict, then we are saying that cultural genocide - the erasure of a people’s identity - is OK.
This erasure of identity can not only take place at the point of a gun, but through cyberattacks and other hybrid warfare. There’s more at stake than we realize.

Holshek's statement on the need to support #Ukraine to combat cultural genocide, more aptly termed '#gynocide,' and identity erasure is crucial. However, it is imperative to bring to light an often-neglected dimension of this conflict: the profound and unique impact on #women, who are not only the bearers but also the creators of life and culture, and the subsequent long-term effects on families. In my book South Slavic Transgenerational Healing through Oral Memory Practices, my Kolo Informed Trauma treatments centered on women war crimes and war survivors and children through their cultural practices.
# Addressing the Gendered Impact of War from a Feminist Lens:
1. **Women as Cultural Creators and Life-Givers:**
- Recognizing #female#biology and women's domestic life as central to preserving and transmitting cultural identity is crucial. Their experiences and contributions are fundamental in maintaining cultural heritage, especially during conflicts.
2. **Disproportionate Burden on Women and Children:**
- In the Ukrainian conflict, over 90% of refugees are women, echoing patterns seen in previous conflicts like the Balkan War. This demographic shift places immense pressure on women, not mere caretakers but preservers and transmitters of cultural identity amidst adversity.
3. **Economic Disparities and Gender Inequality Exacerbated by War:**
- The pre-existing economic gap, where men control the vast majority of global wealth, is further deepened in times of war. Women and children face prolonged battles against poverty, worsened by the conflict, often spanning generations.
4. **Targeting of Women and Homes as a War Strategy:**
- War strategies often extend beyond physical destruction to specifically target women’s roles and spaces – their homes, bodies, and agency. Such tactics aim to dismantle not just the physical but also communities' social and cultural fabric.
# Broadening the Feminist Perspective:
- **Essential Recognition of War's Multifaceted Impact:**
- A #feminist perspective necessitates recognizing the complex impact of war on women and children.
- Support for Ukraine in this conflict should include efforts to address these gender-specific impacts and focus on rebuilding physical infrastructures and the social and cultural fabric, emphasizing empowering women and upholding their rights.
# Feminist Call to Action:
- **Inclusion of Women’s Perspectives in War Discourse:**
- It is critical to incorporate women's perspectives and experiences in discussing war and its aftermath.
- Recognizing and addressing the disproportionate burden of women is not only a matter of social justice but also crucial for the holistic recovery and preservation of cultural identity in post-conflict societies.

I find Cyrus Janssen's geopolitical YouTube-ing on China very stimulating and often insightful. I do not always agree with him, but he makes powerful and salient points about US and Western bias against China. He does so here, too, but in the context of broader criticism of US/NATO/Western policy on Ukraine and Russia and its impact on European politics. Have a listen.
