A good read about the important role of nurse case managers in the #workerscompensation process. One of their main goals is to assist injured workers in receiving the care they need after a #workplace #injury so they can return to gainful employment. Workers injured on the job benefit from medical care at no cost to meet their needs. They also are paid if they cannot go back to work. This combination can lead to overutilization and other issues that can derail the process. The Automotive Industries Compensation Corporation (AICC) is so fortunate to have excellent nurse case managers who take the time to educate and work with the injured worker, the employer, and the adjustor and utilize the resources for success. https://lnkd.in/dtHd6dCQ #AICC #NARFA #losscontrol #nursecasemanagers #nurses #casemanagement #claims #claimsmanagement #losscontrol #workerscomp #workerscompensation #returntowork #insurance #workplacesafety #safety #health #labor #employment

"On June 19, 2024, all New York employers, regardless of size, will be required to provide paid breaks for employees who need to express breast milk for a nursing child. Currently, employers are only required to provide reasonable unpaid break time or permit an employee to use existing paid break or mealtime to express breast milk during the workday. The new law requires employers to provide 30-minute paid breaks each time an employee has a reasonable need to express breast milk for up to three years following the birth of the child. The law will also require employers to permit employees to use existing paid break or mealtime where nursing breaks longer than 30 minutes are needed." Starting a new patient with a caregiver as a home health care agency can feel a bit like cold starting your car after a long summer vacation away from home. You've got "15 minutes" to get on the road which sounds like enough time on paper, but... "I CAN'T FIND THE KEYS 😱 ": Finding just the right caregiver for the patient quickly feels like finding a needle in a haystack "WHAT ARE ALL THESE LIGHTS?! 😱😱": You do the meet and greet, hoping for a gentle start, but the caregiver doesn't put their best foot forward (in their defense, it's not the most fun thing to do) "Time to pay the towing company to jumpstart this thing 😖 ": You've got to call on your favorite caregiver- already in overtime- and beg them to take another patient. You'll worry about your other caregivers another day. At Arya, we help implement automations that make it easy to (a) engage and find the best caregiver for your patients *every time*, and (b) execute thoughtful rewards that align the caregivers to doing their best on the first (and every) interaction. It's the equivalent of always having several warmed up cars waiting in your parking. #homecare #homecareagencies #homehealth #PostAcuteCare #healthcareworkers #skillednursing #personalcare

FANTASTIC article by the American Staffing Association and McKnight Senior Living. 1099 based companies in healthcare are putting buildings at risk legally and financially as well as the residents. I don’t know how senior living facilities continue to use these platforms now knowing the DOLs ruling and the legal responsibility they now hold. Multiple lawsuits are naming senior living buildings as liable because they are instructing these “contractors” which leads to misclassification and these nurses are winning the lawsuits. If you’re a building needing help, go with a company that W2’s their staff. It’s safer for everyone involved.
On-demand nurses are not the same as on-demand drivers under new DOL rules

Working Long Hours in the NHS Shouldn't Mean Pay Headaches - Thank You DASA Umbrella! As an NHS nurse, long hours are par for the course. But that shouldn't mean deciphering my payslip should be another night shift! Thankfully, DASA Umbrella has been a lifesaver. Before DASA, understanding my take-home pay after all the tax and deductions was a complete mystery. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the work I do, but let's face it, explaining payslips isn't exactly in our nursing training. That's where DASA Umbrella came in. From the very beginning, they explained everything clearly and concisely. No jargon, just straightforward information about my pay, deductions, and how everything worked. But DASA's service goes beyond payslips. They've been incredibly helpful whenever I've had questions about my take-home pay, especially when those long hours kick in and overtime gets factored in. Their team is always friendly, approachable, and happy to explain things in a way that makes sense, even for someone like me who isn't exactly a financial whiz. DASA Umbrella has given me peace of mind when it comes to my finances. Now, after a long shift, I can focus on what matters most - my patients - instead of worrying about my payslip. So, a massive thank you to DASA Umbrella! I can't recommend them enough, especially for my fellow NHS nurses who juggle long hours with busy lives. They take the stress out of umbrella payments, and that's a weight off my shoulders for sure. Highly recommended for all my healthcare community and recruiters….
