Enjoyed spending time with the Vistage Worldwide, Inc. team at last week's New England Executive Summit. Good to see their Q1 CEO confidence continue to climb although that is tempered by the fact that level is reminiscent of pre-pandemic recessionary lows. Other key highlights include the continued need for more proactive C-suite succession planning and focus on leveraging AI & other technology to increase productivity. The deadline to enter BusinessCloud’s ‘GM 100 Rising Stars of Business’ list has been extended until March 1st. After receiving a flurry of late submissions we’ve pushed the closing date for nominations back until the end of the week. We’ve joined forces with GM Business Growth Hub to shine a light on 100 of Greater Manchester’s most exciting companies across four key sectors: #GreenTech; #digital, creative and #tech; #advancedmanufacturing and materials; and #lifesciences. These are the four sectors that Greater Manchester has identified as having the most growth and productivity potential for the region. Building a Culture of Excellence: Insights from The Lottery Corporation Executive Assistants In June, something truly special unfolded as The Lottery Corporation Executive Assistants from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane came together for a Corporate Diversity Pathways EA Ways of Working Workshop Program. Over two days, we created joyful moments as the EAs dared to find a better way to nurture a culture of high performance rooted in inclusion, belonging, understanding, trust and mutual respect. The workshop was a celebration of the EAs’ shared commitment to The Lottery Corporation's values of personal excellence and collaborative success. They embraced their collective strengths while nurturing the uniqueness of each EA's role as a valued member of the diverse, inclusive high performing EA team culture. A standout moment was our keynote speaker, Simone Koolloos, whose journey from young entrepreneur to acclaimed Executive Assistant deeply resonated with the team. Simone's story of resilience, dedication and finding purpose as an EA in 2024 underscored the importance of trust, respect and understanding in our professional relationships. Simone reminded us that building a high-performing EA team isn’t solely about individual accomplishments, but about lifting each other up and inspiring innovative ways of working that support leaders, the organisation and the communities served. This workshop was a testament to The Lottery Corporation's commitment to in-person connection to support the EAs to foster a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion by investing in their personal and professional growth and experiencing a genuine sense of belonging. Reflections from Super Return ‘24..   Oliver Wyman and the wider MMC team were with clients (GPs, LPs) at the mega-gathering of Private Capital players in Europe. Some rapid, Linked-In digestible reactions:   What got airtime? -Need for differentiation for GPs as the sector matures -Importance of value creation in equity portfolios given multiple expansion is dead (for now) and build out of operating teams -Expansion of PE investing into deeply technical areas: biotech and life sciences a common mention -Widespread conviction we are at the beginning of a massive productivity and innovation wave with Generative AI -Sports and music entertainment as increasingly attractive areas (with Abba’s Bjorn “all in” with Pophouse) -Public markets as a source of attractive, undercovered, and sometimes undervalued assets  -Private Credit was seemingly a topic in every third presentation. We have written about this extensively in the FT too.   What’s coming next for the sector? -Increasing maturation of continuation vehicles and secondaries funds -Tapping new sources of capital: $5-6 Tn from retail investors was mentioned -Succession planning issues as 20-30 year old funds hand over the reigns -Fund consolidation “barbell” – beware the GPs in the squeezed middle between the megafunds and specialist boutiques   What was notable by its relative absence? -Relatively little discussion around the boom in Aerospace and Defense despite doubling / tripling of government spends (are there other large markets ex. AI with this growth?!) -I expected more around LP overallocations and pull-back from the sector, but there was a general “shrug”, and a feeling the Private Capital juggernaut will continue to power on -Buyer-seller valuation gaps (which appear to be closing)   Overall: a more confident SuperReturn than I expected . The sheer scale of the sector and number of players suggest need for GP differentiation and an “edge” is more critical than ever, or returns will be competed away. #superreturn #privateequity

After an amazing stint in London at Pavilion #GTMEMEA , I'm thrilled to be back hopping around Europe. The energy in London was incredible, and the insights gained there have reinforced my belief in the power of strong, empowered teams. Our outsourced BDRs/SDRs continue to be the backbone of driving revenue for our clients, and it's crucial that we keep this momentum going. Effective communication with our CROs, CMOs, CFOs, and CEOs ensures that their BDRs are always in the loop. This synergy is essential for enhancing their current efforts and facilitating expansion. Outbound isn't dead; it's evolving. The key to growth lies in how we approach prospects and address their concerns. Building strong partnerships and creating value in every conversation strengthens their trust. Quoting Sam Jacobs and the core of Pavilion: “If you want to go fast, go alone.
