cw: abuse White women: WE NEED TO RECLAIM OUR POWER. For hundreds of years, white men and their white women enablers have held onto power and conditioned us to support them ✔️Abusing us into submission mentally, physically and sexually ✔️Making us feel that we are not knowledgeable enough, thin enough, or pretty enough for our opinions to matter ✔️Infantilizing us with rewards for trusting and obeying them ✔️Encouraging us to distrust other women and ourselves ✔️Distracting us with social media and entertainment so we would not pay attention to ourselves ✔️Calling us a bitch for daring to assert ourselves until we stopped trying. We have become so used to all of this, that we are not even aware of how much power we have and how much is possible for us when we unite and lift each other up instead of competing with each other. It’s no wonder why so many of us are lying awake at night worrying about our future and our daughters, nonbinary and trans kids and feeling stuck and confused. Do you want to reclaim your power? The truth is we as white women have tremendous power. Today far too many of us are using our power to uphold white supremacy and harm women, especially Black and Indigenous women. We are also harming ourselves. When we choose to unite with Global Majority women, we can change everything. That’s what the Interracial Sisterhood Coalition is all about. If this message speaks to you, would love for you to join the White Women Cohort, where we will unlearn our conditioning, and learn how we can stand in our power united with our Global Majority sisters. https://lnkd.in/g2MBm6QK #whitewomen #endracism #overthrowthepatriarchy #interracialsisterhood #interracialsolidarity

I felt this in my soul. As mothers and caregivers, we often feel silenced about the sacrifices we make. We’re told we chose this path, and that somehow disqualifies us from expressing dissatisfaction or feeling overwhelmed. But many women don’t choose this specific reality of motherhood as it’s often portrayed (the romanticized version). We face the stress of daily life as working mothers and somehow still manage to get it done. Motherhood is not a one-size-fits-all experience. We can’t compare ourselves to that one woman who seems to thrive in both career and family life because we often don’t know the full story behind her success. We pour our energy into what truly matters, but in trying to balance everything, we often feel like we’re falling short. The truth is, like Sarah, it has also cost me. My mental health, stretched thin by endless to-do lists and constant worry in my home AND in my career. My physical health, compromised by sleepless nights and the stress of trying to be everything for everyone in my personal life and my career life. Time as a caregiver, stolen by work deadlines and the pressure to keep it all together. Time as a partner, as nurturing my relationship often takes a backseat to the demands of everyday life. Time for myself, which feels like a luxury I can’t afford in the chaos of it all. When others tell me the spend the day or weekend getting ahead, learning something new that is going to help them get promoted, there is a little bit of resentment because deep down I wish I had those hours too, instead of using those same hours to stay afloat. Then again, I chose this. Oh, and, God forbid I get caught taking a break because that comes with a set of conversations. We worry about not providing enough, and if we work more, we’re sacrificing precious time with our kids. We strive to parent better than we were parented, often on little sleep, all while managing expenses, protecting our children, and breaking generational cycles. We’re trying our best to discipline our kids, nurture friendships, prioritize our partners, heal ourselves, and succeed in our careers. It’s essential to recognize that our well-being matters. We need to give ourselves grace and compassion. The superpowers we bring to the table are incredible, but they come at a cost. Taylor Swift says, "I can do it with a broken heart" We say, "we can do it while we are burnt out" At the end of the day, it takes a village. The village is not just for our kids, someone offering to pickup the kids from school etc. The village is also the space for those who choose the journey of motherhood/caregiving to be able to talk openly about our struggles and support one another in this journey. Your being is an essential part of this world. Put yourself and your wellbeing first. Fill up your cup first so you can give to others from what overflows. To society: We deserve to thrive, not just survive. #women #caregivers #motherhood #mentalhealth

Today we launch Age Loud! - our new campaign to protect human rights in older age. No matter our age, our human rights are universal. But as we grow older, many of us are pushed into the shadows, ignored and forgotten. It’s time to listen to the voices of older people. Let’s speak up and support their calls to end age discrimination now. Collaborating with Amnesty International national offices and a diverse range of activists, allies and organisations around the world, our campaign will aim to amplify the voices of older people, rewrite the narrative around ageing, and inspire people of all ages to demand an end to age-related discrimination, neglect and abuse. Meet Eileen Noyes! She shares her story as a wife, mother of 8, and author. She says, "I know so many women/wives/moms who feel bad for even asking the question, "Is there more for me?" No matter what line of work she is skilled in, she should pursue her dreams, know that she doesn't have to deny herself completely to be a great wife and mom, and tap into the dormant dreams she set aside."
