Mass loaded vinyl (MLV) stands as a crucial tool in the arsenal of builders and architects seeking to create acoustically optimized spaces. Its dense composition effectively blocks sound transmission, making it an ideal solution for noise control in various construction projects. Builders and architects often rely on MLV to enhance the acoustic performance of walls, floors, and ceilings, particularly in environments where reducing airborne and impact noise is paramount. Its flexibility allows for easy installation, fitting seamlessly into various design plans without compromising aesthetics. By incorporating mass loaded vinyl, builders and architects can achieve superior soundproofing, ensuring that occupants enjoy environments characterized by tranquility and comfort.

PRECAST FOCUS: ACOUSTICAL CONTROL WITH PRECAST CONCRETE - The basic objective of architectural acoustics is to provide a pleasant environment where desired sounds are clearly heard by the intended listener and unwanted sounds or noise are isolated or absorbed. Good acoustical design uses absorptive and reflective surfaces, sound barriers, and vibration isolators. Some surfaces must reflect sound so that the loudness will be adequate for listeners in all areas. Other surfaces absorb sound to avoid echoes and sound distortion. Sound can be isolated from rooms where it is not desired by utilizing precast concrete walls, floors and ceiling construction. The inherent mass of precast concrete makes it an excellent sound barrier. Learn more: https://ow.ly/LENn50R3a6K #precastfocus #howprecastbuilds

The primary purpose of #seismic #design is to ensure the safety and well-being of building occupants during #earthquakes. While much attention is typically given to the structural elements of a building, it is crucial not to overlook the significance of seismic design for non-structural elements. The seismic design of ceilings is a regulatory requirement in Australia. Seismic design also has significant sustainable benefits. In this blog we explore four of them: https://hubs.li/Q02ZtXW10 #inspiringwaysofliving #letsbuildbettertogether

As an architect or designer, you understand the importance of considering the ventilation of any spaces you create. How is ventilation manged in frameless glass installations? Frameless glass does not lend itself to use of trickle vents so we must rely on other methods. Typically, for an entrance porch, purge ventilation from the regular use of the door is sufficient. For a habitable double glazed enclosure, mechanical ventilation is usually required to be designed within the space to ensure adequate ventilation is maintained.

Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) are growing in popularity because few, if any, competitive materials offer such a wide range of desirable product benefits, including durability, increased R-values, lower maintenance, design flexibility, and code compliance. This course will introduce participants to EIFS as a single source exterior insulated cladding solution ideal for commercial, residential, new, and retrofit construction. The course will outline key architectural decisions related to EIFS, and illustrate how architects can incorporate EIFS into building designs that maximize aesthetic value, building longevity, sustainability, LEED ratings and cost-effectiveness.
