🚧 Could Extended Producer Responsibility serve as a catalyst for sustainable construction? Find out in this GAP for EPR webinar on October 15, 1PM! 🌍 The EU’s construction industry consumes nearly 50% of all extracted materials and generates almost 40% of the EU’s waste. Although nearly 95% of building materials are recyclable, less than 5% of their actual resource value is currently being preserved. In the webinar "Exploring Extended Producer Responsibility for the Construction Sector", the Global Action Partnership for EPR will strive to discuss the aforementioned question by delving into the critical aspects of EPR and its implication for the construction industry. Have a look at the agenda: 🟢 Setting the Scene – Andrew Brown, OECD - OCDE 🟢 The Discussion Paper “Extended Producer Responsibility in the construction sector. Exploring the potential.” – Lisa Graaf, BPIE - Buildings Performance Institute Europe 🟢 Panel Discussion:  ✨ Mona Mohammed, M. Mark Broderick, Procurement Director at Kingspan Group, recently attended the 3rd Steel Decarbonisation Summit by CRU Conferences in Stockholm, where he was joined by leaders from across the value chain to discuss the global demand for 'green' steel. Did you know...       🏭 Steel production alone accounts for 25% of Europe's industrial CO2 emissions [1] and 7% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions globally [2]       🏢 The building and infrastructure sectors are the biggest users of steel, accounting for more than 50% of global demand [3] In 2021, Kingspan Group became the first building materials company in the world to make a commitment to procuring green steel at scale via our investment partnership with H2 Green Steel, now Stegra. A total shift to green steel will inevitably take time, and we continue to collaborate closely with our valued supply partners to accelerate the decarbonisation of our steel supply chain - but we're excited to be taking a leading role in this transition. Thank you to the panelists for a thought-provoking discussion Uwe Hadwich, Pierre VOUTSINOS, Göran Nyström, Thomas Hörnfeldt and Matt Watkins #Kingspan #PlanetPassionate #GreenSteel #Decarbonisation [1] https://ow.ly/gmxe50TFJ68. The Trees of Rady Shell at Jacob’s Park Located in sunny, southern California, The Rady Shell at Jacob’s Park is the new home of the San Diego Symphony. The design is a tribute to the atmosphere and history of the original park's natural space, preserving the essence of nature. The designers captured photographs of the trees removed during construction and, in collaboration with Kingspan, these were transformed into stunning graphics applied to the exterior cladding of the ticket booth and concessions buildings. The result? A practical solution with a breathtaking aesthetic impact. House-within-a-House: A London Transformation This unique project reimagined a 1950s house into a modern, energy-efficient home while preserving the historical charm of the area. The renovation included adding a third storey with a pitched roof, constructing a new outer envelope and introducing underfloor heating for ultimate comfort. High-performance insulation materials, with thermal conductivities as low as 0.019 W/mK, allowed for a thin, lightweight building ‘coat’. The transformation not only boosted thermal efficiency, exceeding building regulations, but also slashed CO2 emissions by almost 75% - showcasing the amazing potential for sustainable retrofits in urban settings.
