HMS Cardiff, the second of eight Type 26 City Class frigates being built in Govan for the Royal Navy, is entering the water for the first time 🚢 The ship - which has Welsh singing star Katherine Jenkins as her official sponsor - was transferred from the shipyard slipway to a barge by a team of engineering specialists to begin the float-off process. The build process for each ship involves its structure being completed in Govan and HMS Cardiff will be the last Type 26 to have this initial work constructed outside in the elements, as the new multi-million pound Janet Harvey shipbuild Hall in Govan will see the remaining frigates have their structures completed indoors. In Scotstoun, the ship’s outfit is completed and the complex systems are installed before test and commissioning takes place. As the first ship in class, HMS Glasgow is expected to enter service in 2028. Join us in shaping tomorrow 🔗 http://baes.co/X2gc50TaytM #HistoryMakers
Why can they build a Icon class cruise ship in 2 years yet warships take forever. I guess it is about squandering tax payers money. No commercial imperative.
Sarens are very pleased to be part of the team - undertaking the load out of the Ship using nearly 270 axles of SPMT. #nothingtooheavynothingtoohigh #sarens #teamblue

HmS Glasgow -another four years to get to delivery- OMG why even put the ship in the water at such a low outfit threshold ? No wonder the cost is so high !! Way off by international standards even for a combatant . Major opportunity for incredible improvements.
Anyone interested in sponsoring the original HMS AMBUSCADE, currently in Karachi, Once built on the Clyde to be used for a retail project on the Thames, London. DM me directly
