🎉 We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Young Women Lead 2024 report: Young Women’s Democratic Wellbeing in Scotland! Coined by Carnegie UK, ‘democratic wellbeing’ encompasses the ‘voice’ we have in public life and decisions that affect us. In this new report, we look at the topic specifically through the lens of young women. I like this news very much. And can say that my small experience of jointly leading an organisation with the powerhouse that is Victoria Barlow has been overwhelmingly positive - both for the business and me as an individual (can't speak for Vic but hope she feels the same 😬). When I first started toying with the idea of finding a business partner, a few people questioned the logic - isn't it better for you to remain the boss and to grow the team beneath you? Why would you want to share what you've worked so hard to build? One person said my ego would regret it. 🤯 They were all wrong. Sharing power and decision-making. Sharing risk and reward. Sharing rants and laughs. Co-leading Agenda hasn't reduced my portion of the pie, it has enhanced it. So I'll be cheerleading ActionAid and its co-chief executives from the sidelines and looking forward to seeing the positive impact of this decision. And if anyone else is thinking about introducing co-leadership roles to their organisation and would like to talk through the pros and cons, I'd be happy to share my experiences, if helpful.
