Is it about time to retire “consumer’ as a term? To me personally it's an outdated and often condescending term, the word that is almost used as an attack, bringing guilt and shame upon... whom? all of us (people)? As we all "consume". As long as we eat food and dress for the day, we’re a consumer? But without these regular acts of ‘consumption’, human life simply wouldn’t be at all possible. And if you ask me, life is something to be celebrated, not ridiculed! That word "consumer" that the industry uses daily without second thinking implies a "wall", the barrier between "them" and "us" (the industry), does not imply any respect to those who will buy/use/wear the fruits of our creativity and hard work. How can the industry build a more inclusive ecosystem that brings people (formerly known as "consumers") on board, how can we influence people to behave differently if we are constantly building a barrier? These are not rhetoric questions to me, as we @Sangrove have been working on enabling a new motivation to consume consciously by our proprietary presell-at-scale tech, driven by a mission to create #impact while simply shopping. So, it’s been decided, the term has got to go!
