A letter to designers from Developers😎 Dear UI/UX Designers, We, the developers, have a bone to pick with you all. First off, we love the new design – it's clean, it's modern, but it's... impossible to code😭. Like Seriously, did you use a random color generator for the palette? We've seen less complexity in a Rubik's Cube. And those curves on the buttons – are they meant to hypnotize us? Because they're working. We've been staring at them for hours trying to figure out the CSS. Also, a quick question: Do the hover effects come with a manual? We're thinking of hiring a magician to help us implement them. Seems like the only logical solution at this point. In all seriousness, your work is as beautiful as it is unfeasible. Keep it up, and we'll keep Googling "how to turn a PSD into a working website without losing our minds." Looking forward to the next challenge you throw our way! Best, The Devs Who Now Dream in Hex Code.

Small tip for those hiring designers, when you have a field for portfolio, be sure to have a place for applicants to also write their portfolio password. Being on this side, it's scary to think that someone might look at the portfolio, see projects that are password protected and bounce from it. #hiringdesigners #gamejobs #uxdesign #uxjobs

Only well managed organisations who have tech stack can understand it.
I saw a job post today from a very renowned company. The job post's title was 'Senior UI/UX Designer.' However, upon examining the job description, none of the listed responsibilities were related to UI/UX design. The fun fact is most of company doesn't really know about the UI/UX itself and why they need it. They expect UI/UX designer also take responsibility in coding. Let me tell you a bit UX is focus on understanding user for what they really need by doing a lot research, testing, and observing. If you need a UI/UX to do the coding thing, please ask for frontend or fullstack developer not us. Because it doesnt make sense except you want to pay more.. #uiuxdesign #jobtitle #jobdescription #UIDesigner #Hiring #DesignJobs #CareerOpportunity

What's happening with ux and product designer job postings? css, javascript, and html as a requirement?! I need to talk about something that’s been bothering me a lot. I’ve seen several job postings for UX designers or product designers that list CSS, JavaScript, and HTML as mandatory skills. And it’s not just in the “preferred” section; it’s under “required”! This is already absurd on its own, but when you think about it, this is basically job creep. Let’s be honest, having a basic understanding of these technologies can be useful. It helps us get a sense of what can and can’t be done in code. But requiring a designer to be practically a front-end developer? That’s asking too much. We’re losing sight of the real focus of our work, which is creating incredible experiences for users, not writing code. What worries me is that these requirements are devaluing both designers' and developers' work. A UX or product designer should be focused on understanding users, crafting journeys, prototyping, testing, not solving code syntax problems. And you know what’s worse? This is disguised job creep. Instead of hiring two professionals, a designer and a front-end dev, companies want one person to do it all. This just leads to overwork and, on top of that, devalues the specialized work of each. If you’ve noticed these changes in UX and Product Designer job postings, what do you think about it? Do you think that in the future professionals will need to master both design and development to stay in the market? Leave your opinion in the comments; I’m curious to hear how you’re seeing this trend. #UXDesign #ProductDesign #DesignJobs #JobCreep #Development #UserExperience #FrontEnd #JobMarket

Hiring product designers with a beautiful portfolio might cost you. I’m not saying that good UI design isn’t reflective of a talented designer. But for most startups in the early days, focusing on activation and retention matters more. Designers who spend too much time on UI will slow you down and probably focus on the wrong thing. Yes, in some instances, good UI design is what a product needs to move the needle. But more often than not, you want someone who acts on behalf of the user. Someone who crafts a solution that helps users get to where they want to go. If you find someone who can do both—craft beautiful designs that deliver results—hold on to them with all you’ve got. They’re worth their weight in gold.

Companies, Stop Demanding Superheroes. Companies, it's time for a reality check. Recent job postings, like the one demanding a UI/UX designer with expertise in graphic design, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and video editing, are unrealistic. While a broad skill set is beneficial, expecting mastery in every area is counterproductive. We struggle to find top-tier UI/UX designers because we're still treating the role like a catch-all for creative tasks. Let's focus on hiring specialists who excel in their core competencies. We can build stronger teams and create better products by valuing and recognizing specific skills. It's time to shift our mindset. Let's hire smart by setting realistic job expectations. #StopExpectingSuperhumans #UIUXDesign #DesignSpecialization #HiringBestPractices #RealisticJobExpectations #JobMarketRealities
