“These Terms are Market!” Common phrase heard in #Business, but just because its “market” does it make it right? 🤔 Tua Tagovailoa wants a new contract from the Miami Dolphins💰 “The Market is the Market” - Tua referenced the recent Jared Goff & Trevor Lawrence contracts, these QBs arguably in the same performance tier 📝 Assume the Super Bowl is the goal for each NFL franchise (it should be). The recent market has shown 2 paths 👇 1. Have an ELITE QB that elevates the talent around him; Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning did that consistently. 2. Have a QB on a low-cost contract surrounded by elite talent; Brock Purdy, Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow got there before signing big contract extensions. In a business decision, when “The Market is the Market”, and following the market doesn’t align with achieving the goal, should a company be forced to conform? 🤷🏽♂️ The line between good and great companies can be knowing when to follow vs when to innovate and create a new market. My 2 cents as a lifelong Basketball fan. You guys need to examine your player development program, as well as your player acquisition strategy. Drafting a bunch of top picks ain’t going to cut it. Not in today’s NBA. Some of these top egos don’t care anything about Pistons, its history or culture. Think of the “Steel Curtain” with the Pittsburgh Steelers “Heat Culture” with the Miami Heat Those players ascribe to a certain professionalism that comes along with playing for those teams. Heck, look no further than under your own roof with the “Bad Boy” Pistons 💯 If that’s not the attitude around your team or in that building, then you need to reevaluate the people around the organization. It's not surprising that the NFL--BY FAR the most competitively balanced league in professional sports--is the most valuable on a per-team basis. But to also have 30 of the top 50 most valuable franchises worldwide? Wild. Whether we like it or not, the parity trend we're seeing (F1 car redesigns, CFB realignment, push for European Super League, etc.) is only just beginning.
